Give Aikman The Offensive line , recievers and Running backs that Romo has ..., and see if he does Half as good.

Ohhh ..., wait he didn't. When the Main player's started droping off the Cboy's after them being on top of it all ...., Aikman retired because of Concussions. Those player's were not there anymore..., and were replaced with player's that were not as good. Or Great.

Danny White. That dude could drop a pass right into the receiver's arms on a dead run, pretty as can be. I have several games on tape and a highlight tape from that era and it it some sweet stuff. White actually held several records that even Aikman did not break, but Romo broke all or most of them, including touchdowns in a season.
There ya go . Not Every QB out there viewed as good or great does something because They themselves Did it.

Romo is Also Far More Exciting to Watch , from a General Football Fan's Perspective. ... Unless ofcourse, all you watch Football for is your Team to get a W.

Hell , Aikman's Comentary is Bias and Completely Boring as well. When Romo Talks ..., He's Entertaining.

exactly, most of these so called bad *** hall of famers had great teams around them...how do you think Marino would've done with that Cowboys team or the 49ers teams of the 80's? now put Montana or Aikman in those Miami teams and see what they would've done

they would've been decent for sure, but chances are they would'nt have won crap

Here's an example, look at what Young did in Tampa or what Favre did in Atlanta absolutely nothing

                That's Coaching issues.
They Obviously didn't know how to Coach those particular player's .
Favre for the Most part, always had problems in Domes too.

I've been a Cowboy fan since the early 70's and have a Aikman jersey framed in our family room. But I have no illusions about what made Aikman the quarterback he was. It's the same thing that helped make Emmitt the all time rusher - five monster lineman - Larry Allen, Nate Newton, Mark Tuinei, Erik Williams, Dale Hellestra. These were HUGE lineman and all pro-bowlers. When that line finally started to age and holes developed, it wasn't long before Aikman started taking some mean hits and that's what retired him too - Blows to the head. That is why we have that rule today, because of what happen to Aikman. It retired him after only 10 years. But it also demonstrated his lack of mobility. Romo thinks on his feet much better than Aikman ever could have. Romo is a very good quarterback and not part of the problem in Dallas. Hopefully he'll get a ring for his effort one day.

OK, let me do my best to answer some of these posts. And guys PLEASE don't take any offense by my answers. I am an NFL loving freak that will watch the 2 worst teams play. There is nothing personal here.

First, Aikman vs White? Aikman has a career completion % of 61.5% to White's 59.7% Close but not better. And in 1993 Troy completed 69.1% for the season! That is hard to top considering the Cowboys didn't run a "dink and dunk" style offense. Yes he played on a great team but he still had to get the ball to the reciever. I am not saying he is in the top 10 all time QBs (not even top 20) but he was no slouch either. One of the best of his generation.

Romo is a very good QB. If anyone thinks he is over rated just go look up his stats. I don't think he is over rated as much as the Cowboys are over hyped. It is common for a team as popular as Dallas is so I don't mean this as a slam on the Cowboys. Tony has some great stats but he has only had 4 seasons of play not counting this one. I would like to see at least 8-10 years of play to judge a QBs overall place in NFL history.

Young was in Tampa for only 2 seasons starting 5 games his first season and 14 in his second. Tampa stunk back then and Young was able to sit and learn by watching Montana play. It's hard to quantify that one.

Favre spent only his rookie season in Atlanta and only attempted 4 passes total. He was too much of a party animal (he has admitted to this) and the Falcons traded him more because of his immaturity then performance. And they got a first round pick for him even though they drafted him in the second round.

Marino was one of the greatest pure passers of all time. Sucks that he never got a ring but he can't be held at fault for that. His records speak for them self.

Montana was the best overall QB I have seen in my life time (age 45) as he was brilliant! I watched him go through his progressions and end up hitting his fourth read quite a few times. Most QBs are lucky to get to the third read. Montana was like a machine in the way he saw the field and read the defenses.

I think I covered most of it.

Nyaaat! I wasn't comparing them or even trying to hint that White was a better QB than Aikman! I was just stating the fact that he was more accurate and one of the most accurate of all time. I can show you some clips that you wouldn't believe. And he was consistently like that. When his receivers were open, and he had a moment or two, it was on a rope with the prettiest spiral you ever did see. You should see some of his downfield bombs. Receiver wouldn't have even had to look back for the ball, just run like crazy and hold your arms out and the ball fell right in stride.

No worries, I didn't take it as anything other then a comparison of accuracy which I usually equate to completion %. Actually I think White is a bit under rated as he had some pretty good years yet I don't hear his name mentioned very often when talking about Cowboy QBs.

Sorry if my post came across wrong. I meant it as a big reply to the many posts since mine. I am pretty opinionated when it comes to the NFL mainly because of the passion I have for the game. I love to talk about pro football and I always enjoy reading other peoples opinions.
