This served as a soundtrack for one girl I dated back in the late 70's...still hits me a little bit because the song makes me remember those moments - VIVIDLY
mull of kintyre
my love
maybe i'm amazed
wanderlust
and even the recently released Dance Tonight which has a great beat.
I could go on and on, huge McCartney fan
yeah, Rockshow is not one of my faves. I actually thouht Tug of War was one of his best solo projects. Ballroom, Dancing, Tug of War, Take it Away, ebony and Ivory. this was a great album.
I also always liked Waterfalls of the McCartney 2 album
Wingspan is one of my favorite collections and I play it often
Way too many to list....if it's STRICTLY SOLO then here's a list:
Maybe I'm Amazed
Everynight
Monkberry Moon Delight
Back Seat Of My Car
Junk (Both versions)
Waterfalls
The entire Tug Of War LP
The Man (w/Michael Jackson)
However Absurd
Footprints
The entire Chaos and Creation in The Back Yard CD
Hope Of Deliverence
The entire Flaming Pie CD
Hanglide (Instrumental)
I know there are a bunch that I am forgetting...and that's STRICTLY SOLO stuff. There's just so much great stuff on his post Beatles LP's/CD's that it's impossible for me to pick a favorite. Macca is also one of those artists that his B-sides were as good as the A-Sides.
"When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
The beauty that surrounds them
Isn't it a pity".
One thing that really irritates me these days is the fact that he needs to get away from the Hofner Bass. He needs to get back to the Rickenbacker Bass or the Wal that he used on Flowers In The Dirt...I understand that the Hofner is his signature, but it's got a very limited sound. He was getting some really melodic bass lines with the 2 Bass' that I mentioned. Also, he needs to change his songs that he is doing on tour...he has 40 years of solo/wings stuff...enough with Hey Jude and Can't Buy Me Love(one of my LEAST favorite Beatles songs)

I know this album has a lot of covers, but I can't get enough of "Run Devil Run," especially on road trips. His versions of "Brown Eyed Handsome Man" and "Movie Mag" are my favorites.
Hey! Where's the waiter with the water for my daughter?

I saw him opening with Rockshow/Venus and Mars and also doing Nineteen Hundred And Eight Five earlier this year while on tour here in the U.S. It seems that he's beginning to incorporate more Wings material into his shows, thankfully.
I agree with you in regard to the need to use the Rickenbacker bass in his shows. It would add a lot to the sound.
Just because I saturated the house with McCartney when we were younger doesn't mean you have to be a hater

Hey Jude is one of his signature songs. he will always do that live, along with Yesterday and several others. it's the rest of the show he mixes up. you have to remember that many people in an audience are seeing him live for the first time and they want to hear Hey Jude live. hell I have seen him numerous times and I love hearing it live. the guy is a born showman and he knows how to work the crowd and give them what they want. next tour I promised my kids I would bring them to see him too.
