It was attendees nearby that restrained the stabber before the Cops in the room stepped in.

Having camped out in Hall H for a day last year, I can see how nuts it gets with so many people wanting to get into panels with so much limited sesating. I just found it easier to stay in there after having lined up in the morning rather than leaving and having to line up all over again later. It's crowded, it can be quite warm with so many people packed in there in close quarters. I can see how things got out of hand, particularly if people are jockeying for the choice seating.

If you stay for multiple panels, you basically start out in the back, and then as each panel ends, you can move up as people leave until you do get a nice seat close to the stage. Of course it was the end of the day before I ended up at the front. Just make sure you pack a lunch and have lots of water. If you need to go to the bathroom, they will give you a ticket to re-enter within a twenty minute time limit.

On the whole though, most people are really really friendly. It's just a few jerks that always spoil things.
