Violence at San Diego Comicon

security made us go in, stating that we wouldn't be allowed to sit outside. We begrudgingly went in, couldn't find seats together, and my husband got annoyed and went back out the way he came in. The guards yelled at him for going out via the "in" door, and he stormed off. They tried to keep me from following him, then let me go. So that's our Comicon Incident Story. Tempers tend to flare over what would be a minor incident when you're dealing with crowds like that, especially in the middle of summer.

That place is beginning to sound like Russia. A bit ridiculous IMO.

That really would not matter much. People that want to do this kind of stuff would just find something else to use anyway. Maybe it will be an Ipad next year. ????

Advantages are ... the person don't get badly hurt .... and you can always claim it was an accident.

If this happens every year (the queing, not the stabbing) I have to wonder why the organisation doesn't have these panels in a bigger hall.

Hall H is the biggest hall they have. It's HUGE. You could hold a soccer match in there. It's just that EVERYONE wants to be the first to see Avatar, or get a glimpse of the Hollywood stars, or get the scoop on the latest comics/movie news at the panels.

When I was there, they had different lines for different panels going into Hall H, but the best way of making sure you got to see the panel that you wanted to see was to get in via the earlier panel line and just stay in the room. I wanted to see the Joss Whedon panel and it was just more comfortable and preferable for me to sit in the room and watch a panel for Bones (which I have no interest in) than standing outside in line for a couple of more hours. The upshot is that I sat in on a panel of Brave and Bold and watched an episode for the first time... I didn't realize that it was not "a kid's show".

That's just pitiful and Pathetic. Some people could use a punch in the gut every now and then, but you don't screw up a guys eye socket, unless you're really in danger.

I heard that after the incident, on one of the panels, they had Harrison Ford come on to stage handcuffed.
In the Kevin Smith panel, I guess someone fashioned some eyeglasses with a pen going into it.

Very bad taste, especially if that kid ends up losing his eye! It also looks bad on the convention because it makes it appear as though they don't take it seriously. Bad PR. I guess we could all wear fat suits with a 'reject' sticker from United airlines to Kevin's little talk and see how he feels about it.
