You guys are kidding, right? You are both missing the point to the post. To have the meet in Idaho or California someone has to be in charge and get the ball rolling. Calling hotels and reserving rooms, calling to find a place to have it, deciding on admission prices and table fees, deciding to do a custom or not. So if you want it there you'll have to do that. And if you get something planned I'd be the first to try and make it there.

I'm sorry Rich you felt that way. It was not my intention to have the post come off that way as a "like it or leave it" kinda thing.

And Lonnie - if you don't have the funds to go you won't no matter where it's held. I'm unemployed which means I have no income coming in and my unemployement has run out. So don't even guess how much you think it cost me to go to the meet. You have no idea. But you did come last year. You planned and worked it out. I hope you had a good time and I did enjoy meeting you then and still am.

All I was trying to get across in the post is that if you want a meet or gathering in your state or town you are going to have to make it happen. Calling and planning and finding a good date. That's all I was trying, and apparantly badly, to say.

Well, let's see. If it's held in Portland along with the other event I posted I can go for a whopping $12 to get in for two days and drive there and back twice. If it's held in WV I have to spend over $1,000 to get there and back and get around and have a place to stay. I can't see your reasoning for me not being able to attend. I can get $12 a lot easier than $1,000. Now do you see the appeal of having one here? It is expensive to travel across the continent to buy toys, so having something closer is just an idea for all the people who will never be able to afford to go to WV and meet up.

Well, I CAN see the appeal of having it there (West Virginia).

This link has pretty much the hotel discount and space and a toy event already planned. I was suggesting some of us get in on the already established event and have a little section with the Mego theme. It's at the Airport Holiday Inn and so it's convenient from the airport. It's real close to I-5. And not that far from downtown.
Than 75% there, next you'll have to get people organized on who's going to have a tables, collect the money and contact the sponcers and make sure your tables are all in the same area.Mimi Mego meet village.
          I think it can work.

Of course I do Lonnie. I see it. Everyone would love it if an event, whatever it was, was held in their own town. I'd love it if something was held here in Montomery. The point you are still missing is if you want it in your town you (or anyone else) is going to have to make it happen. That's the only point I'm trying to get across. I'm not dragging on anyone who can't make it to Mego Meet for whatever reason. And I hear what you're saying. It's the same reason I'll never attend SDCC or Wizard World Chicago.
