Funny you should ask this question... I was looking at Thin Lizzy's Jailbreak from 1976 this weekend, and remember liking it because it had such a Kirby Comic feel...
I couldn't pick just one: Led Zeppelin IV, Black Sabbath "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath", KISS "Destroyer", Sex Pistols "Never Mind the Bollocks...", The Damned "Machine Gun Etiquette", The Beatles "Let it Be" (recorded 1969, released 1970, does that count?). I can't decide, and this was just narrowing it down to one album from each band.....
Anything SHAUN CASSIDY!!
Anything Michael Jackson (RIP) or Jackson 5
Early Rick Springfield (Beginnings, Mission Magic, Comic Book Heroes)
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."
Any of the first 4 Sabbath albums....or Physical Grafitti....the first Van Halen album still rocks my world....Ealdrett already mentioned Marquee Moon...LOVE the new wave stuff.....I think Candy-O came out in the late 70's, didn't it?....Gang of Four's "Entertainment" ('77).... I was born in '67...when I was about 10, all of the older kids really dug Kiss, but I never really "got" Kiss.. still don't...I discovered punk, or what I thought was punk, real young, probably 79', and my dad got me records by The Clash, The Jam, XTC, and The Sex Pistols...THAT was my first real experience with music where I was able to make my own decisions, but that was probably 1980...My 70's music knowledge and records came a little later....most of my fond memories of the 70's are Little League, superhero action figures and Legos.... When I get nostalgic about music, it makes me think about what I liked when I was a kid....does anyone remember collecting Wacky Packages? I should start another thread for those.....
I hear that, Sharry. Long live the King of Pop. I listen to Mike and Prince pretty much every day. Two of the best entertainers of all time, in my book.
