      Hang in there brother.

I had something similar happen to me a few years ago so I completely understand the stress level of being of accused of things, harassed, and I ended up in counseling and placed on an anti-depressant....it got that bad.

I work in accounting so there should be written policies regarding receipts. At most of the companies where I have worked we have a general policy of requesting receipts for everything but will require a cash receipt reimbursement over $15. I have never seen any policy stating that you need to keep receipts for any amount of time after reimbursement. The mere fact that your reports were approved and processed tells me that even if there is a policy; it really doesn't matter because of a pattern of reimbursement.

Definitely note what was said regarding the injury because you are protected under the Americans with Disabilities Act. If you have an email or something that they wrote...the better. If a friend or someone else overheard it and is willing to stand up for you that's good too.

I would immediately and I mean immediately find a lawyer. Start with people you know who are lawyers or friends who may have friends who are lawyers. There is a high probability that if one particular lawyer can't help you with your case; they will know a lawyer who will. If the lawyer feels that you have a pretty solid case, chance are he/she will take it on contingency...meaning they get a cut of the settlement or judgment.

In the meantime, if your current employer hands you some type of settlement, just remain calm on the outside even if you feel like going ballistic, don't sign anything and tell them that you will take their proposal to your lawyer (even if you don't have one) for review. Don't answer any questions or share any information (even with friends who still work in the company). I can only go by my own experience. I had a good friend at the company where I was being harassed and when everything hit the fan; I asked him if he would go to bat for me and back me up.

He had always said he would when things were starting to come to a head but when it was time for him to step up, he backed off, apologized and said he was afraid to speak up for fear of retribution against him.

I hope that helps and hang in there. I am personally going through some personal issues myself and there have been three things that have kept me going....a great support system of friends and family (you will sit there and listen to you even if you have repeated the same story for the 1000th time), counseling services (hopefully this is covered as part of your insurance plan....take advantage of it), and I turn to spirituality. I don't know your religious beliefs but I just read a fantastic book called "God Never Blinks: 50 Lessons for Life's Little Detours" The chapters are relatively short and not too heady with religion but really gives you a new perspective on what life is all about.

All the best to you and you will be in my prayers. Please PM me and I will send you my personal email address if you want to talk. I did nearly go through a nervous breakdown at this company so believe me when I say that I know exactly what you must be feeling.

Sorry if those seem like silly questions, but all I know about modern Belgium is what I learned by watching "JCVD".
The company I work for deposits the money directly into my bank account and each month they send me a letter with what I've earned that month. But If I choose to throw away those letters then I can, with no consequences whatsoever. Since everything goes directly into my bank account I have a record with the bank of every transaction, including the deposits of my employer But the letter is a little more detailed.

Oh, and I haven't seen JCVD, but I doubt you learned much about Belgium by watching that, seeing who made it

AHhh - okay. I think I see what you're saying. We have direct deposits for salary too.

I think what toysrus is saying is that he submitted receipts for something he bought that was work related, like travel expenses or office supplies or whatever - he paid out of his own pocket for things that his work should compensate him for. NOW it seems like they're accusing him of submitting phony expenses so he could pocket some extra cash. They're saying that if he wants to defend himself they need to see the receipts from each purchase he got money back for, but he already submitted those to them ages ago so he could get paid.

From what we know it seems possible that they're trying to frame him for stealing - basically - so that they can fire him without compensation. Let's hope the whole thing is just a simple misunderstanding that gets worked out right away.

I thought JCVD was awesome! OH YEAH - I thought of another Belgium movie I saw "Calvaire". It was one of the craziest things I've ever seen!

Take care of yourself. I've followed your thread because I understand this kind of mess and how external craziness can make you start to doubt your own sanity. Stay rooted, Dude. You are on my mind and I am absolutely hoping for the best for you and I know when this all over, you are going to be okay.

                      update

Update-5-24-10. If you have been reading/following my story then you know its wrong for what my lame company is doin to me. Anyway I'm on like day 8-10 with no pay, no unemployment-nada! So today I got the EEOC Feds involved since i have a disability. The real fight starts now, i was told this could drag for many weeks, possibly months before i recieve any pay. But hey I'm doing what I gotta do to survive.

Expect me to bug you guys on help on posting pics of my toys for sale this weekend. I have been meaning to start this already, but the stress of this job crap slowed me down.

I will need to sell tons of stuff to get some food on the table, sucks i have to part with most of this stuff, but thats life.

I also have tons of comics, will sell those cheap.

                      Have a safe day!

Thanks to all the MM friends!!!!

Mike's right. Go to unemployment and open the claim, then your employer will need to file a report saying in detail why they don't think you should be allowed to collect. They will need to put it in writing which will then make the info recorded and public knowledge. They won't be able to add to it and change it to suit their needs later because if they do it's fraud since it's a filed report with the state. I just did one against an employee that quit and then decided she wanted to collect. Needless to say they denied her claim, though they can over rule an employers claim and still issue benefits to you even if your employer disputes it. Don't wait do it now. Sooner it starts sooner it gets recorded and the process starts rolling.

For now, like the next few weeks i'm following what the EEOC and Hipa laws say as per my attorney.

Toys, comics and more will be my income for the next few months. I dont have all that many megos, but give me a few days to dig thru my stuff, i have tons of old school cool toys, games and more.

                          Thanks
