I agree that there wasn't much character developlment... or not enough reason to care for these characters yet.

There is probably a lot of pressure to impress folks right off the bat and to get big viewing numbers... at the expense of building up to someting with a gratifying pay off.

Maybe they have a long term story arc in mind.

As a "Lost" fan, it's fun to think back to the first season when all we knew was that they were on an island. Now we know that there was so much more going on around them.

Then again, "Firefly" had great character development and it was axed.

I wish I could say I was more impressed with the 2nd ep.. I can't. Boring story, boring acting, boring dialogue. If I didn't have it taped and couldn't zip thru the commercial breaks, I never woulda made it.

I didn't even watch the 2nd episode. Nostalgia got me to watch the first, but you can't feed me crap and expect me to eat it, just for "old time sake". Blah!

I'm still going to watch it for the time being (just say "no" to "Private Practice" ) but I think I actually felt viewership dropping off last night. It was soooo slow moving it was ridiculous (and not in a "bionic slo-mo" kinda way).

Okay...I swore that, as a diehard Lindsay Wagner fan, I would NOT watch this show. But I did watch the first two eps.

                  My two cents:

#1: There are NO original ideas in Hollywood anymore. They call it "Bionic Woman", but they're trying to be Alias. They took major creative license with just about every aspect of the plot/character with exception of her name. And IMO Michelle Ryan is no Jennifer Garner..and CERTAINLY isn't a Lindsay Wagner.

                  #2: Irksome stuff:

Why a bionic eye, too? *sigh*

Jamie was pregnant when hit by the car, then loses the baby. I agree with the prior post saying she had zero chemistry with the doc/baby's dad. I found that plot point hard to swallow. Also, she's amazingly angry at the doc for what he did to her (modifying her body without her permission), yet they have a love scene.

She picks up a guy at the bar and makes out with him in the bathroom, only to accidentally break his rib and realize she doesn't even know his name.

She's the "guardian" of her little sister, but is never around when she's needed.

                  Miguel Ferrer plays...well....Miguel Ferrer.

#3: See...the real problem here is that they're messing with my childhood icons. Don't call it Bionic Woman if it isn't Bionic Woman!!!!

                  I'm missing Lindsay big-time.

Michele Ryan isn't a bad actress, but IMO they clearly hired her for her gorgeous eyes...that's about it. Her mouth drives me nuts. I'm not sure if it's her little rounded teeth that bug me or if its' just that she does something odd with her mouth when delivering her lines, but the same thing happens to me when I (try to) watch Alicia Silverstone. I'm too fixated on how annoying their mouths are. LOL!

One positive thing: I do like that they work in a version of the original "da-da-da-da-da-da" noise when Jamie runs.

                  Okay...end of rant.

                  EDITED TO ADD:

Did anyone else notice that Jamie's name was said to be: Jamie WELLS Sommers? WELLS? As in Rudy Wells?? Was this true in the 70s series as well? It surprised me.

That was about the only positive I could find in the series. Always enjoy Ferrer playing Ferrer.

But the storyline was all over the place, it moved too fast and the opening scene was just too violent. Personally, I think it belongs on tje 10pm time slot b/c I have a feeling some of my students are going to watch.

                          HardyGirl,

I just came across this earlier post.

I agree: I was a bit surprised by the intensity of the pilot. I think they're trying too hard to distance it from the original series and that, ultimately, could alienate those tuning in for nostalgic reasons.

I also, as someone posted earlier, hope this leads to the DVD releases of the original Bionic Woman. Why do some US series come to DVD faster in the UK and elsewhere? I don't understand. The same thing happened with Cagney and Lacey. *shrug*

Katee Sackhoff can't even save that show for me, and I do enjoy me some Katee Sackhoff a great deal.

Apparently I'm in the minority here, because I'm really enjoying the show.
