A few moments come to mind (but there are more):

      1. The queen Alien is just about to snatch Newt and out comes Ripley is a binary load lifter screaming "Get away from her you *****!"

and before that in the same movie you had Ripley and Newt preparing to die on the crumbling power station when the drop ship comes into frame.

      2. When the injured and dying Darth Vader finally made a move to save Luke from the Emperor in ROTJ.

      3. The loving and slow reveal of the brand new Enterprise in TMP

      4. Forrest Gump finds Jenny in the crowd of the 1960's Washington D.C. Vietnam War protest and the whole crowd cheers when they hug in the reflecting pool.

      5. The scene in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom when Indy opens a can of whoopass on the guard that was whipping the kid slaves and then releases them.

      6. When Superman saves the plane in Superman Returns and shows that he's back to the stadium.

      7. The Dinosaur/Kong fight in Peter Jackson's King Kong.

Superman The Movie - His reveal scene with the helecopter. John Williams heroic theme backing his debut is simply inspirational. I have never seen a more heroic moment in cinema except...

Superman 2 - When he rolls up on the Daily Planet to challenge Zod. Again, his theme music is timed perfectly and brings the scene to an almost tears of joy inducing moment. The rest of the film is pretty rough, but those few minutes are burned onto my soul.

THe Great Dictator - Charlie Chaplin's ending speech/monologue is awe inspiring in it's truthfulness and sincerity. His delivery was perfection. His words still ring true today and are inspirational. It was a strange moment in a modestly amusing film, but one that will be remembered after seeing it. Youtube it sometime and see what I mean.

There are many but the one that popped into my head (and hasn't been mentioned yet either) was from Star Trek VI.
It's the scene where Captain Sulu is trying to get the USS Excelsior to the peace conference in time, flying at maximum warp. He anxiously blurts "Come on, come on!", wanting the ship to go faster. His pilot responds, "She'll fly apart" to which Sulu snaps back, " FLY HER APART THEN!".

Yep, I'm with you on that one, good choice!

And needless to say the 1978 Superman movie has many goosebump moments for me as well. The scene that really gets me is when Superman finds Lois' dead and he just can't accept it and freaks out, culminating with that massive scream of agony as he flies off. I know some might find that scene cheesy and the visual effects weren't the greatest perhaps, but the emotional agony he lets out there is powerful, even when I saw it as a kid it moved me.

Christopher Reeve was the best, man.

Mine will always be when General Zod gets his knuckles squished by Chrsitopher Reeve as he's kneeling before him and then the songs kicks in.

At the end of It's A Wonderful Life, when the whole town, friends and family show up.

"No man is poor who has friends..."
