The winners are probably going to be The Hurt Locker and its director (Kathryn Bigelow: first woman director win), Jeff Bridges, Sandra Bullock, Christoph Waltz, and Monique (they have to give the movie Precious a win in something, and Monique is it).

Up will NOT win Best Picture...but will EASILY win Best Animated Feature.

Avatar will win special-effects...and the rest of the technical categories.


As much as I love my girl Penelope Cruz...she's not going to win Best Supporting Actress.

She was in a horrible musical (9)...and she just recently won an Oscar.

I think Monique will get it.


I personally would love Inglourious Basterds and Tarantino to win everything...but it's not...however...if Christoph Waltz doesn't win...then I'm going to kill either a puppy or a kitten....

I hardly ever go to the movies or rent them, so it really isn't worth my while to watch.

I think oscars are imporant to the general public because depending on who wins is what we're probably going to see more of in the future.

If you totally hate a movie and it wins there's a good chance next year your going to see a lot more of the same thing in the theatres

is everything "right" about movies...
whether it wins any awards or not...if it DOES win an award or two
it'll say something good about the OSCARS in general for me personally.

The only effort I will Apply in this Thread with the Topic is to say ..., I haven't watched this Nonsense in yrs. I will end up hearing who won ..., or something of that degree, where or there, or see it on a DVD cover, but I really don't care too much. There was a Time I did Watch ..., a bit here, but then it got to the point that everything I ever thought should have won it ..., never did. I am not real big on all these so called Artzee fartzee flicks, that seem to always strike Gold at the Oscars ..., Most to be honest when I see them ..., I don't even like , when I do see them.

Well...I think that mindset makes the Oscars more 1 dimensional if looked at in that way....I mean why not just hand a $50 check and a trophy to the
top B.O. and be done with it, if you're gonna go that route.

The "other variables" are what makes THE OSCARS interesting.

I'll never really jive with the idea that THE OSCARS or the R&RHOF and such
institutions are "evil" or "elitist" or any of that...it's the fact that they
ARE slanted that makes them what they are, and an interesting if not
definitive part of our media pop culture.
