I hear you, I personally try to avoid any PAL DVDs if possible, because I'm sensitive to PAL speedup, everything sounds a tad higher pitched than it should, but sometimes there are no other options.

We use MACs only and from what I found out last week at the SMPTE meeting and Microsoft Studios, they too use MACs for videos. HA!
So if you are on a mac, rip the disc with Mac the Ripper, the best! Then DL MPEG Streamclip and play the VOB file that contains the movie complete and make sure to fixe the breaks. Export to desired output and pic PAL.
Once you have the .mov file in PAL, you can transcode with STREAMCLIP to NTSC or PRORES and burn to disc.
We do most of the transcoding from Final Cut Pro to Compressor but you can use QuickTime as well.Comment

Are you talking about the TV Series with Steven Webber & Tim Daly set in a Nantucket Airport? All seven seasons have been out on DVD for quite some time.
I'm waiting for DVD releases of :
Alakazam the Great
The Phantom Tollbooth
Fantastic Journey (about a shipwrecked family in the Bermuda Triangle)
The Carol Burnette Show (not the best of segments but the actual entire shows)Comment

Hell, I just bought a Blu Ray over X-mas...They released The Black Shield of Falworth in the UK...it was out on regular DVD in the UK for about and a year...then they decide to come out with a Blu Ray, and wouldn't you know it...they found a Scope/Widescreen print of the movie. The Blu Ray is a Region Free Blu Ray. That's a movie I was wishing they would release...and they did release it in the UK. I was going over the list I posted and also noticed that another Tony Curtis movie that hasn't been released and that is "Houdini". Another one of his movies that was really good. Anyone know if that's been released here??
Just got The Black Shield of Falworth Blu-Ray in the mail. The picture looks awesome! And I learned something new. I didn't know that Blu-rays are immune to the PAL - NTSC crap. However, I did purchase two by accident, so unless I can cancel the other one...anyone want a good deal on it?Comment

You probably aren't going to see a re-issue of Yellow Submarine. Disney is doing the Live Action/Computer version of the movie. Until that comes out, I would highly doubt that Yellow Sub will be coming out. Especially the way that Apple and MGM/UA are slow in getting stuff moved from the back burner to being released."When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
The beauty that surrounds them
Isn't it a pity".

Yeah, if the film comes out at all, it will be in conjunction with the new version. That's how studios market things these days. And it doubtful that it would have uncompressed audio, as Fox (which handles MGM releases) usually uses DTS HD Master Audio on it's Blu-ray titles, but that's lossless, so it's just as good as uncompressed (and let's hope that Yellow Sub gets that kind of audio track at least).Comment
