around here you gotta have your beans and greens to start up the new year.
That is black eyed peas and collard greens. The peas are for good luck in the new year, and the greens are so's your money stays in your wallet and not someone elses.
had them both.

I had some popcorn, a twix bar and a grape soda. My wife is an event planner so she usually isn't home on New Years, so after I put the kids to bed, I snack like an unsupervised kid on Saturday morning. It's all good!Comment

My wife makes chestnuts wrapped in bacon every new years but I'm the only one who doesn't like them. I stick to pizza rolls.Places to find PlaidStallions online: https://linktr.ee/Plaidstallions

Hot Dogs and sauerkraut for New Year's eve, then pork & kraut with mashed potatoes for New Year's Day dinner. My family has always had this. I remember asking my great-grandmother why we couldn't have turkey & stuffing again like we did for Thanksgiving & Christmas, and she told me that for good luck, you needed to eat the meat of an animal that roots forward, always working for it's providence. Chickens and Turkeys scratch backwards to find their meals, so it was bad luck to eat them for New Year's. The other day I was listening to a bit on the radio about New Year's meals and the announcer told that same story that she'd heard from her grandparents.Comment
