I see no Lennon bashing here.

Nobody here said he was bad, evil or even untalented

It's just his fan produced legacy that's being questioned

Seems like a fair topic to me.

You can't compare Elvis with the Beatles as solo artists....it's like apples and oranges. Elvis was/is/always shall be the King (even though MJ tried to steal some of that with his King of Pop moniker ). The Beatles were phenomenal as a group...but as solo artists, none of them even come close to the output or number of hits Elvis had. I betcha if you even combine their solo chart efforts it still pales to that of Elvis.

I'd hazard a guess off the top of my head that McCartney was the most successful in sales as a solo Beatle, followed by Ringo and then Lennon. So Lennon is definitely an acquired taste as Mike said....

This thread inspired me the scan all over my Beatles/solo Beatles records and post the history under neath them.
I have recently went out and re bought all of them on CD so I would no longer have to play them and I am currently in the process of finding glass cases for wall displays.

Anyone curious to see my LPs here is the link. You have to have a Facebook account to see them.

Plus Elvis's music lands in three categories, Classic Rock and Roll,Country and Gospel.......

John's solo Stuff is acquired taste.....not everybody likes it.

Elvis music is straight and easy to get into especially his Rockabilly music.
Easy on the excessive ???? Take it easy...it's really not that bad...lol.

He did croak because of his own stupidity...that fact can't be denied.

My mom likes Elvis...that's my only connection to him...I'm not into Elvis.

Now Buddy Holly on the other hand...a true genius who died way too young.

I think this thread is starting to get out of hand. I love John Lennon for everything that he did through his influence of music and for standing up and protesting for peace.

If he screwed cats, sheeps, several odd farm animals and a few dogs on the weekend, who cares? Christ. He never did anything legal (except for toaking a joint here and there and experimenting with drugs in his youth). If that makes him an ******* in your opinion, then so be it.

Me personality, I wouldn't be playing and writing music if I would have never discovered John Lennon. My mother claims she used to play the John Lennon "Imagine" album when I was in here womb. Don't know if that is the reason why I went and became a Lennon fanatic, I am sure there is some scientist somewhere would say it is the reason...

But to sit here and say, "hey I didn't care for the man. I think he was an ******* or this...and that."

Your opinion. Don't comment then. Let the people who loved and admired him talk about it.
It is like the kid who see's one of those toy ant farms and he walks up to it and shakes and laughs as he watches all the little ants scurry around and try and fight back or get their composure.

Or say for instance Adam West. There are a lot of Adam West fans on here. I respect their opinions; I just don't care for the guy. You don't see me jumping in there and going, Adam West, he's a ****** bag. That batman show from the 60's was gay....blah...blah...blah....
I just look over the thread and move on.

                RIP John Lennon

OK Mikey. This is where you start a thread called John Lennon VS Elvis

Me personally, I wouldn't be overweight right now hadn't I discovered Elvis years ago.

Elvis has been an inspiration to me.

He proved you can be fat, sing hunka-hunka- burning love ... and people wont laugh ... much

We tend to give too much credit to white musician and singers like The Beatles and Elvis.

But what about the old school black musicians who started it all?

There would not been any rock n roll without the influence from them.

                      Let's not forget this.

I appreciate Elvis too, bro...but I gotta defend Lennon too.

                              Both are legends.
