I've heard the long wait for this album has given birth to unrealistic expectations. But lets be honest here. Kiss goes to great lengths to hype every product they release (most of all their records). For a band that ALWAYS compares each new album as the next "Destroyer", I think some form of expectation should be applied here (without being overly naive about it
). And given this could possibly be their last studio performance, certainly encourages one to think the band is inspired to be on their "A game" at the design table. So, yes, I think the easy solution would have been to formulate an album cover which harkens back to their "heyday" approach. Yes Rock n Roll Over was a classic album, but that cover was a one time event. I didn't see anyone clammering for another graphics headache (especially after Love Gun came out). If this new album cover projects any '70's style', I would say it reads more like "K-Tel's Greatest Disco moments". Look at the letter type and tell me you don't see that...
