Totally agree with you Hector! Tyson had a lot of excuses made for him everytime he failed.

But you need to train to win! Boxing hard core training! I'm telling you when he was in Vegas, Golden Gloves gym. His training was a joke! We used to watch him and be like, thats it? His scared team that he ran with leached off him, so they feared to push him in training. His training sessions were like one big party for Holyfield. Now he did train hard for Golota, i watched him train and spar his *** off for that. And he trained a super hard 6 weeks or so for Lewis then starting slacking and hitting all the Vegas clubs! Now could he beat Holyfield if he came in fighting shape? We may never know, but thats Mikes fault. Rooney kept training closed to the public, no clowns were allowed near Tyson when Rooney ran the show, Tyson didnt like that, so he dumped Rooney and starting training to look solid! Get his body in shape. That doesnt work in the ring! Trust me , i was there! from 1995-the lewis fight i trained at the same gym. Tyson knows me well.

First of all...Holyfield is three years older than Tyson. The one who was in a lot more wars...and much more ring-worn...was Holyfield...not Tyson. Everybody keeps forgetting Tyson was the big betting favorite.

Second...Tyson was in never any wars prior to that fight except for Buster Douglass.

      Who was Tyson's toughest opponent?

Perhaps Ruddock or Douglass...but that's it...until Lennox Lewis slaughtered him.

I also won't except excuses like Tyson stopped training hardcore...part of being a true great is to be ready at all times...since he supposedly wasn't...then Tyson does NOT deserve to be a top twenty heavyweight champion...let alone a top ten.

No excuses...Hoyfield "The Real Deal" Holyfield...whipped his arse good...fair and square.

Like I said...to be great...you have to face adversity inside and outside the ring.

And that's the reason Tyson doesn't crack my all time top twenty heavyweight list.

My Dad boxed, as did my older brother, plus they were always heavy into martial arts. So at a young age I too started boxing & practicing Martial arts with my family to no end! Then I boxed at local PAL boxing gyms in NY, when i moved to vegas I met Tyson when i was sparring, at that time i was like 32 or so, basically just boxing to stay in shape and for the love of self defense. Anyway to make a super long story short, i felt comfortable at Mike Tysons gym, he said i could train there for free if i agree to work with the kids and teens as a boxing coach, i held pads and taught boxing basics, sparred with whoever. Tyson and I hit it off, we spoke alot about NY, knew some of the same people from NY, and from there he just let me do my thing as he trained.

Your right though, i shouldn't take away anything from Holyfields or Douglas wins! And yep Tyson is too blame. Thats true, excuses are not cool.

Who would have likely won? Prime Holmes vs Prime Tyson? I go back & forth on that! I'm thinking Holmes, but it would be a war!!! Holmes did get koed when they met, but that was an old Larry.

I'd take Holmes too...the man was one of the all time greats (and one of the most underrated champions ever)...that jab of his was like a piston...and had a very underrated powerful right hand...solid boxing skills too.

The way he got up against Ernie Shavers (in their rematch)...proves what resiliency Larry Holmes had...awesome...I place him top ten for sure...perhaps even cracking way up to my number five spot (depending how I feel at the moment, lol)...I love Larry Holmes.

I don't hate on Mike Tyson...he was one of the most naturally gifted heavyweights ever...and he was a little guy...gotta give him big props for that...too bad he had some many problems outside the ring.

Tyson would certainly have a puncher's chance against Holmes though...ask Shavers...he almost did...lol.

I will always be a Michael Jordan fan. Poetry in motion. I still love to put in my dvd's and watch him work his magic when was in his prime. Sweet stuff.

Cal Ripken Jr. will probably always be at the top of my list.

Sticking with the boxing theme I'd say early 90's Bowe or Golota; I can't decide which was more entertaining to watch. One was knocking guys through the ropes while the other was biting them.
