I dig the Monkies but can't watch the show. I don't really even remember watching it much as a kid. I had the Then and Now package when it came out but it was lost to the ages since then....think it was a cassette and i threw all those out years ago.

in 86 when the show was being played on MTV the Monkees hosted an xmas special at the end Santa came out and as the credits rolled it was Nesmith. He joined them on stage at the LA coliseum as a surprise
actually Nesmith joined them in 96 for the 30th reunion, they did a TV special built aroun d a new cd called Justus, they toured Europe and sold out Wembly 3 nights in a row, but for some reason he dropped off the tour when they hit stateside. I was ****ed I had tickets to see them on that tour.
the 3 Tork,Dolenz, and Jones toured off and on for a few years. in 01 they released a live CD and a concert DVD produced by King Biscuit. Peter dropped off after a huge disagrement over drinking on the tour(according to gossip mags) Jones and Dolenz toured one more time and relased a cd of the concert recorded in Toronto.
Jones tours solo Peter joined him on stage at Mohegan last year it's on youtube. before the cancer there were all kinds of rumors that they had all buried the hatchet and were going out one more time. but now who knows.
sorry, I have been a huge fan for as long as I can remember.

I'm not a Monkee "fan" but I've got most of their music on CD, as well as their television series and movie on DVD. They were a big slice of Pop Culture back in 1966 to 1968.
I used to have a cool Monkees sweatshirt that went MIA in the 1970's.90, Joe 90.... Great Shakes : Milk Chocolate -- Shaken, not Stirred.Comment

I met Davy Jones a few years ago shopping in a local dept store. Nice guy. He does some charity work now & again out in Central PA. where he owns a small ranch.Comment

I always got the impression Nesmith was busy and didn't want to take the time to go full on with any reunion, but he always pops in when they get together.
I do recall Tork had a recurring role on the show "Boy Meets World" and Jones and Dolenz guested at least once.
Dolenz has done quite a bit of TV voiceover work. He was Arthur on the Tick for instance.

I am a huge fan and have been since I was a toddler in the late 60s. I'm disapointed to hear Peter's cance has returned. I was planning on seeing him play this summer.
As far as the comments on Mike; He hates touring. He has only toured twice in the last 30 years. He did a very limited club tour in the US in the winter of 92. Then he did the Monkees tour in the UK in 97. I saw three of the concerts in England. I was 99.99% sure that Mike would drop out of this tour before it got to the US, so I made the trip to England.
I mainly listen to the albums with all 4 of them on it. I recently began playing the DVDs of the first season for my neices, age 5 and 7. they love it. I don't think I would show them much of the 2nd season.
Mike invented MTV, by the way and was the first person to win the Best Video Grammy in 1980.Comment

I was a mega Monkees fan growing up. I still love their music but at one time I think I had nearly every album memorized. Last year I passed on the chance to see Peter Tork perform. He played in a tiny bar half a mile from my house. when I saw the marque a few days prior to the the show I freaked. My better half is a good friend of the bar owner and when I gave the sign a double take with the obvious question "Did that sign say Peter Tork, and why is he going to be there???" She said, yeah, Ron (bar owner) has been friends with him for a long time. This blew me away thinking in a few days we would get to see him and probably hang out after the show. Unfortunately, Tracy (the better half) got very ill and I skipped the show. I don't regret staying home but I hope that there is at least another chance for this to happen.Comment

I have the CD Then & Now. I got it when it was new. It has a few new songs on it (That Was Then, This Is Now, etc) and I still listen to it occasionally.
As for the show; I did watch it but even as a kid I could tell it was a bit juvenile. Haven't seen it in years.
What always ticked me off was that Mike Nesmith (who probably would've been a nobody had he not been a Monkee) feels he's to good to rejoin the group for any tours/reunions, etc.

Mike too good..? Sort of. It's mainly that he doesn't like touring. Never really did. Just ain't his bag.., so to speak. They did do a good UK mini-tour in the '90s when the interest came back, but that was pretty much it. [SORRY, just now saw the earlier post saying basically the same thing..]
I know Davy still gets around, but only for the money. I've been wanting to see Micky or Peter again for a while now...

Peter puts on a fantastic show either solo or with his blues band Shoe suede blues band. I've seen them all do solo shows each are great in thier own right. I was going to book Peter for a solo show but funding fell through. for Peter and another guy plying guitar it's $1000Looking for Infinite Heroes Robin and Catwoman
