I don't have a clear favourite, which is why on the odd occasion I decide to buy a chocolate bar, it takes me forever to decide which one to get! When I was a kid I usually bought Mr. Big (maybe this is sold in Canada only?). It was the biggest standard chocolate bar, and I wanted to get my moneys worth.
You've never tried real chocolate if you've never tried Belgian chocolate
We have Belgian chocolatiers here in America too, you know.
America has everything from around the world.
You should try Mexican chocolate for a totally different experience...I'm not saying is better or worse...but it's totally different type of chocolate making.
Mexican chocolate is not as sweet nor buttery...and it's often water-based as opposed to milk. Mexican chocolate can be spicey as well.
They love their chocolate mostly in hot drinks (Aztec style) and in their cuisine.
Mexicans use it for its main national dish...mole poblano (mostly with turkey and other poultry)...
It's made from up to 20 different spices...but chocolate is one of the main ingredients.
If you ever visit Mexico...especially in the Puebla region...try mole poblano...you are gonna love it.
See's chocolates are great...I also like San Francisco-based Ghirardelli chocolates...and we also have quite a few Belgium-founded Godiva chocolate locations as well.
