As a Canadian, I always coveted the American candy I'd see advertised in comic books and on TV. I also had a serious fixation on those Carvel cakes with ice cream. Y'know, Cookiepuss and Fudgie the Whale. Loved that Carvel guys voice, too.
Anyhoo, when I started going across the border (to look for toys, of course) I would always stop in Seven Eleven and buy all kinds of stuff. Clark bars, the apple pies that made the Hulk happy, etc.
I guess I should mention that I also coveted Marlboro reds when I was a smoker, but this is a candy thread, am I right?
As far as the Carvel cakes go, a few years ago my girlfriend at the time found out that they had them in, St. Catherine's I think, which is closer to the border. She made her sister drive her there and brought it back in a cooler. What a sweetheart.
As a kid in Canada, I was always jealous 'cause the kids in the States had better/more variety of stuff. Now as an adult, I love reading about all the stuff that we got that you all didn't. Haha. But seriously, I still want your stuff.Comment
