yeah, back in 1977 we didn't need 3 movies to understand the conflict between Ben Kenobi and Darth Vader. Unfortunately we got them later. People on the street are very familiar with Batman and Superman and get that they aren't cookie cutter superheroes. Captain America and Iron Man needed the build up and exposition with the public to get them to Avengers and Civil War. The one part of this that's a shame is that it seems that everyone is painted drab like Batman. There should be a lot more visual difference between Bats, Superman and Wonder Woman.

I totally agree, you don't need five movies to set up a feud. But, we've had the luxury of that with Cap versus Iron Man. It's only natural that the inevitable comparisons will be drawn by the average Joe who already have the idea that Superman and Batman are supposed to be allies. I think the Justice League or Superfriends are much more familiar to average people than the Avengers were so their conflict just seems to come out of nowhere. Same applies to Star Wars...if they were to announce a brand new Luke versus Leia movie, people would be scratching their heads and asking "Why are they fighting?" which is exactly what's happening with BVS.

not even close MOS was way better than that Iron Man 3 mess, heck, IM 2 also. I'd rank it about the same as Age of Ultron.

Iron Man 3 is a horrible, horrible movie...I'd rather watch the new Fantastic Four flick again.

Iron Man crash landing and suit disintegrates into a million pieces every time. The kid scenes were painfully annoyingly cringe worthy. You see more of Downey's face than his Iron Man faceplate, despite that he's still in full gear. The Patriot/War Machine gets easily kidnapped and is basically the most useless superhero ever. Tony Stark and his dozen other remote control Iron Men can't even tackle one baddie in peace. On final battle, it's not even Iron Man who defeats villain...its GWYNETH PALTROW TO THE RESCUE!!!!!!!

While I didn't like Avengers 2 much, it's still a thousand times better than Iron Man 3, my least favorite superhero movie of all times.

Wasn't too crazy about Iron Man 2 either, but it's not horrible.

Not hating on the first Iron Man film...I think that one was brilliant...

The only thing I'm not liking about Batman v Superman so far is that when Ben Affleck came onboard, he made a lot of changes to the screenplay.

                      What changes could've that been?

Well, I'm thinking the existing script had perhaps Batman struggling with Superman to Affleck's dismay...and knowing narcissist Affleck and all...he changed it to have Batman winning the matchup against Supes.

So I firmly believe that while the first encounter will have Supes sort of intimidating Bats first, and sort of "winning" that little first matchup...Batman will clearly be victorious in the second battle. Affleck is definitely more famous than Henry Cavill...he has more pull...and I know that he's higher paid actor. No way in hell Cavill wins this one.

Damn, Supes, you are going to get your butt kicked...

In all honesty, they should have subtitled Iron Man 3, "The Tony Stark Adventure", because Iron Man had virtually no screen time. It was definitely a perfect example of catering to an actor's demands (and vanity) for more screen time and not investing in the merits of the story. Of course nothing overshadows the horrendous treatment of the Mandarin. Give me Schumacher every day of the week over that abomination.

From what I've heard, Affleck's changes were directly on Wayne/Batman.

IMO, that means he didn't think there was enough of a character difference between Wayne and Luthor, which makes sense since it's becoming really apparent the original BvS script was simply Goyer/Snyder's MOS2 with Wayne/Batman inserted for Luthor. That becomes TDKReturns and offered to Bale, who passed. It then goes to Affleck where he's given total control of the character and revisons. He brings in Terrio, who then merges all of the Joker/Squad and Wonder Woman/JLA parts.

I think this is how we ended up with Looney Luthor. Kent, Wayne and traditional Lex probably reads as three stiff white guys, especially with an older version of Wayne. They're not going to change Lex's ethnicity out of fear of offending someone, (advocacy groups get to read screenplays and give notes), and Affleck can't play younger than Cavil. Then you have the meh reaction to Spacey's Lex, plus Marvel pretty well covered Luthor with Osborne and Obadiah Stane, plus the fear of "where's the humor" blowback...

...I still think it's going to be pretty solid. For me, it's all about Cavill, but I give huge props to Affleck for recognizing he had to bury himself or else he suffers the Clooney fate. Even Affleck's Wayne voice is not his normal cadence. He's jutting his jaw out when he speaks as Bruce, but I also think he had his vaneers changed or septum fixed. I caught him over all-star weekend and he lost that mushy delivery which the guy has had since the start.

Exactly. Had forgotten about the Mandarin...a drunken actor, lol.

Not a fan of Schumacher, but yes, I'd take any of his movies, even the horrid Batman & Robin...over Iron Man 3...
