Aren't Sandman and Pfogg supposed to be the villains in the Avengers crossover?

i don't know. I picked them because I'd like to riff on The Monkees/Beatles in Londinium. Back to the drawing board then.

Anyone know why Lord Marmaduke Ffogg became Professor Marmaduke Ffogg in his previous Batman '66 comic appearance?

Yeah, I really felt the strain of trying to be campy in the Fogg episodes. It was really less organic and ended up just feeling stilted.

i note that a lot of season 3 they tried to really cash in on the hippy thing. they often showed the "youth" element in America grooving to music of whatever. most of the season 3 episodes are watchable but that whole bit about women not doing anything but cooking, cleaning and shopping was really insulting, even for the 60's. and yes, the death trap - the human pretzel - was just plain lazy on the writers part and was really stupid

I'm interested in this too. (I'm getting Batman'66 in hardcovers, so I'm behind on stories...) I really like your idea of a Ffogg/Somnambula team-up: two supposedly legitimate men who are really villains.

Condensing the Ffogg episode and recasting him would have made the episode much better; I do like Glynis Johns.

Having seen every episode more than twice. I would have to say Zelda the Great and the Archer episodes. Also I didn't like Astin playing the Riddler.

Ertha Kitt as Catwoman wasn't my favorite. I wonder how Lee Meriwether would have done with the same scripts.

They're trying to play it both ways with the flower children and Louie in his premier episode, but it's fairly clever and the depiction of the hippies isn't too derogatory.

It's always funny/interesting now to see a show address a then-contemporary subculture, like when a biker or beatnik shows up on Perry Mason.

I freakin' love Lee Merriwether, no apologies.

I like both Zelda and Olga, Baxter is fun & charming. My gripe against Olga's episodes is that Egghead became subordinate & dumb.

Astin's take is pretty novel--I like the narcissistic, obsessive quality of his Riddler. It differentiates from Joker. And his lair is one of the best ever.

I always liked the egghead episodes the least as a kid. I guess I wanted more of the mainstream villains more. I just love that show period.

I think Astin would have been fine, if we hadn't had Gorshin before him. I didn't mind Anne Baxter as Zelda, but Olga kept showing up, and I liked Price's Egghead better alone.

I don't think they are the worst two episodes, but I was watching the show sequentially on Blu Ray when the Liberace episodes came up. Completely derailed me and I haven't got back to the show since.

^I can see that. Clearly, Liberace wasn't an actor, but they gave him a challenging dual role. He pulls it off pretty well, all things considered, but I think it no doubt played better at the time, when he was a HUGE celebrity, and his awkwardness was more forgivable.

interesting. he was definitely not my favorite guest villain but I do not mind those episodes so much. they kind of fit with the goofy camp comedy the show was going for

to be honest, Aunt Harriet annoys me more than characters like Chandell. I was glad they all but eliminated her in season 3. only a few appearances or mentions of her
