Sheesh, cut the doom and gloom guys. It's ONE episode. The first one is always a bit rough. Give them a chance. I think it has loads of potential.

I enjoyed it. show has great potential. I hope they wear shield uniforms though, the suit thing is too generic

        >I can't put my finger on what it is but something about the show just doesn't seem quite right.

It's pretty close to a lot of other things, so it hasn't found it's unique schtick yet. (Which hopefully it will.) The beta cloth costumes would help.... So would an appearance or two from some of Marvel's weirder, lesser characters. Squirrel Girl is a must. Skull the Slayer would be awesome.

        >for this to be "Level 7" the agents seem to be awfully clumsy, inexperienced and inefficient

WARNING: Nerd Alert in 3.... 2....

A level 7 agent isn't an independant operative. Level 6's are. 7's are more like the noname troops that would ineffectively swarm the villain after someone important pointed and yelled "Gett'm!" (I know this 'cos we just finished a Marvel RPG campaign a few weeks back wherein the characters were all SHIELD agents.)

I'm in for each week, but I think it suffered from trying to throw too much into the first hour rather than making it a two-parter.
          It's all good!

Blame the hype machine. They've been selling this thing hard since last spring. If they weren't ready, what was the hurry? The best shows over the past decade have waited until the season is mapped out. ABC is renown for rushing, which is how the Lost and Desperate Housewives debacles occurred.

Also, no one trust Jeph Loeb anymore, unfortunately. He's great for a certain amount of time, but like Bad Robot, things always seem to fall apart. Loeb can't just waltz to another project this time though, as he did with Smallville, Lost and Heroes.

For me, it's also a reinforcement of how bad Avengers Assemble is and how everything seems half-baked.

Not in a Saucerful "half-baked" kind-of-way, mind you...

Look at the idea behind the Inhumans relaunch. They're going to layer that on top of the mutant concept and it's only going to dilute the value for both. It's a leap too far for general popular consumption.

I didn't see it but my seven year old went to his Grandparents and watched it with them last night. His review: "It was stupid. There weren't even any Avengers in it."
"Many Shubs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Sloar that day I can tell you."

Ratings for the premiere were strong like Hulk. It'll be interesting to see how they hold up..

I liked it and I think it will be a good show as it gets going. and it means 1 less night a week of Dancing with the stars with my wife basically watching the clips of the night before so much the better. I got tired of NCIS 2 years ago so it has very little competition for me except when deadliest catch is on in the spring

Enjoyed it and am looking forward to watching it weekly. Not sure what some were expecting, it called "Agents of Shield" that's what was presented.

I enjoyed it. I wasn't looking for "critically acclaimed" material, nor expecting it. I went in expecting fun, and I feel like it delivered.

I'm not trying to attack your seven year old, it's just the best quote to reflect several posters comments on the subject. I've read the "Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.E.I.L.D." comics off and on, back when Nick Fury was still white, and some of the older issues from the seventies. The big name heroes don't appear that often in S.H.E.I.L.D., from what I remember.

Seeing the old SHIELD flying car was a hoot. I expected as much when "Lola" was introduced....
I'm so dense I didn't see the flying car thing coming until just before it happened! I was smiling ear-to-ear. That was awesome.

Yeah, there's something interesting going on there. I just hope they don't ruin it by trying to get to 'cute' and fool the audience. Or make Coulson evil.

Now if S.H.I.E.L.D. was chasing Godzilla like they did back in the 70s,they might have something.
