While I disagree, you're free to believe whatever you like.

Absolute Wishful Thinking. People see what the want to see. Mercifully, MOS distanced itself from the campy, schlocky Reeve films, and was better for it. (Remember what I said about seeing what we want to see.)
You gots a bee in your bonnet about the old films.
Okay.
Hyped up as you are, it simply can't negate the fact that many, many, many people have seen Reeve in that movie you love's shot.
Either Reeve is actually IN THERE... OR it's an amazing film-goer coincidence with a power that we haven't seen since the likes of Superman.
Please excuse my forced reference to a classic quote from a beloved film series you've relegated to "schlock" that the generation who defines these Mego Museum boards holds as a dear part of their childhoods.
Kneel... kneel before that reality.
"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris Mannix
^^ Don't lump me in with that, I couldn't stand the film as a kid seeing it in a theatre and still can't now.
"The film?"
If you mean, the series... then okay, you're "unlumped".
But most from our generation worship at the altar of Reeve.

Sheesh, can we have a thread where someone doesn't say "your Superman sucks, mine's better" or vice-versa?
Anyway, I actually see a Reeve-like face TWICE in this clip. First when the image flashes over white, and then when he looks up. The first one is maybe a milisecond long, and took me a few times to convince myself I was seeing something different.
I'd like to hear from someone on the film to confirm this. Heck, it could have been one guy at an effects house being sneaky, without Snyder and co. knowing.

HE started it!
Seriously tho, I think that's the reason I chimed in with what I replied with, as in: I don't see why the need to bash Reeve accompanies not seeing Reeve's image in that MOS clip.
I mean, is "Reeve" Superman THAT much poison?
The truth is though, I've always thought live action superhero films (with scant exceptions) have fallen short of their potential.
As far as having a dog in this particular race... the only reason that Reeve would be my dog over Cavill is nostalgia.
And, I'm still wrestling with my assessment of MOS. But for now, for context, I'll certainly say it wasn't as annoying as The Dark Knight. I probably liked it just as much (or better than The Dark Knight Returns, which I though was actually reasonably tight (and the only fully tolerable film of the Nolan Bat-trilogy for me)

I have to be honest. Despite my previous post(s) saying I saw it in the theatre... I know I'd NEVER see it at home. Honestly? I can't really even "confidentially" see it right now. Even after multiple viewings. I guess it's a big screen thing.

I'm an 80s kid, that same Superman existed in my day. I simply don't elevate those films to mythic status. Even discounting the effects, we still have Deus Ex Machina endings for both of the ones that are considered 'good' (other people's description, not mine), A Lois who smokes, and looks like a barfly (All due respect to Ms. Kidder, who I have met, and who is a very kind lady), and she writes terrible poetry. combine that with a mediocre story, no real villains or fights, and Superman is far from Super.
The only reason these movies are still lumped in with modern superhero films is nostalgia, because if they were released today, they would tank. Audiences want, and deserve Better. And they get that with Man of Steel.

I loved Terrence Stamp, but even he payed on the camp.
If you love 'em, I won't change that, and I am not here to change your mind, but I seriously don't see what everybody else is seeing.
