Saw it in IMAX 3D last nite with a sold-out house, who were all oddly reserved thru the entire film. Usually with big comic crowds you get some whooping and hollering now and again, or at least some clapping at the end. Nuthin. But anyway..

It's a good popcorn flick, and I did enjoy it on certain levels. Great to see the fantastic powers of Superman manifested so fully and impressively (something Returns really dropped the ball with), and I was on board with Snyder's vision of Krypton. I can also appreciate the darker overall tone..

My main issues are the ones I've seen referenced by many critics.. the script lacks wit and any real character development. I thought Amy Adams did fine with what she was given, which wasn't much. Cavill made a great Supes in presence and aura, but was also flat as a board. Not that he didn't have company in that regard..

So, leaving the theater, I was okay with it. Some things to really like, and some things I wish were better. For a cynical guy in his mid 40s, that's really not too bad, is it?

Returns did a good job showcasing his individual powers. They just didn't apply them in the way we wanted to see them.

But MOS applied physics to the mix. Yeah, Superman is bulletproof, but his head still moves when a bullet hits it.
Looking for Green Arrow accessories, Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver, and Japanese Popy Megos (Battle Cossack and France, Battle of the Planets, Kamen Rider, Ultraman) and World Heroes figures

It did? Can't say I noticed. Faora-Ul got hit with plenty of bullets, and I didn't see her so much as bat an eyelash

Should I be nervous that Hector hasn't posted his thoughts on the movie yet?

He's at the clinic receiving oxygen and cold compresses to help him recover from "over-stimulation".

I think when he is able to post his thoughts it'll be one of the most interesting movie reviews we've ever had here. Stay tuned...
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

                      You guys, lol.

I'm recovering, went for some sushi after the movie.

I'm going to post in the spoiler thread, there are some things I want to mention.

The movie was awesome, up there with Superman 1&2 and Dark Knight...it made Iron Man 3 look like dog poop, lol.

                      Was is perfect?

Almost, but a couple of scenes had me saying...what?

Definitely seeing it again, Cavill is a beast, you don't wanna mess around with this Supes, he'd mop the floor with all the movie Hulks' and Thor's, not even close, lol.

Was it better than The Avengers?

Oh hell yeah, not even close, Man of Steel was a serious sci-fi/fantasy movie...The Avengers was like a Saturday morning cartoon in comparison, lol.

The Avengers is not even my favorite Marvel flick, I much prefer X-Men First Class.

I enjoyed THE AVENGERS quite a bit, but I've always been a dyed-in-the-wool IRON MAN/THOR junkie, so seeing them share screen time was a joy for me. Did that make THE AVENGERS a good movie? After mulling it over and over in my shiny noggin, I think that THE AVENGERS is a good movie, but, as Hector put it, it can lean a little towards the cartoony side. MOS, while I'm still mulling my own review over in aforementioned shiny dome, definitely struck me as a bit more a think-piece, super-powered hero flick (when there wasn't blocks and blocks of mass destruction going on). I would have to put MOS and THE AVENGERS on similar playing fields, but I give the "better" movie edge to MOS simply because it was willing to go out on a limb and approach the subject of Superman with more gravitas than it has seen lately...
