Saw it in IMAX 3D last nite with a sold-out house, who were all oddly reserved thru the entire film. Usually with big comic crowds you get some whooping and hollering now and again, or at least some clapping at the end. Nuthin. But anyway..
It's a good popcorn flick, and I did enjoy it on certain levels. Great to see the fantastic powers of Superman manifested so fully and impressively (something Returns really dropped the ball with), and I was on board with Snyder's vision of Krypton. I can also appreciate the darker overall tone..
My main issues are the ones I've seen referenced by many critics.. the script lacks wit and any real character development. I thought Amy Adams did fine with what she was given, which wasn't much. Cavill made a great Supes in presence and aura, but was also flat as a board. Not that he didn't have company in that regard..
So, leaving the theater, I was okay with it. Some things to really like, and some things I wish were better. For a cynical guy in his mid 40s, that's really not too bad, is it?
