Superman belongs to siegel and shuster and it's been open to interpretation ever since.....Man of Steel is the latest and 20 years from now or less it will be updated again.......

As for the kids, there is a lot of super-powered fighting/violence that is pretty intense but not gory. People are in danger because there is destruction in the movie on a cataclysmic scale. And once the action starts rolling, there are no funny or cool little bits like in the Avengers to break the intensity. You could consider the movie a war film both on Krypton and Earth and everything that comes with that.

There are more than a few emotionally sad scenes that might be tougher to deal with than the violence. There is profanity, but not by Superman.

I'd say if you consider your child sensitive, you might want to watch it first. The movie is also 2 hrs and 20 or more minutes and from my experience that's always a consideration when taking a younger child to a movie.

It's rated PG-13 for a reason, but your child probably would find most of it cool.

I have a 5-year old daughter who doesn't understand why she didn't get to go see Superman with Daddy and Bubby. I'm thinking the drive-in may be the way to go, since it's a much less intense and personal experience than sitting in a darkened theater.

I'm going to try and see it in the next few day. Relieved that this film is doing well, thats a good sign moving forward with the DC film properties.

                  A different perspective...

One of my cashiers saw it last night and said it was a waste of time. He is 20 and has a Superman tatoo on his arm so I dunno. I'm going regardless on Tuesday.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

I agree that the fights had weight. I caught myself thinking "He's got to find a way to stop these guys, or more people will get hurt." Faora's admonishment that Superman didn't have training drove home what he was truly up against.
Looking for Green Arrow accessories, Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver, and Japanese Popy Megos (Battle Cossack and France, Battle of the Planets, Kamen Rider, Ultraman) and World Heroes figures

The day I take advice and agree with a 20 year old, is the day I jump off the Golden Gate Bridge, lol.

I agree 100% with ya, Hec!! Most 20 years olds these days lack the overall maturity and/or knowledge to be doling out ANY kind of advice!!!

If you prefer Adam West over the Dark Knight movies, save your movie. If you prefer the modern, dark serious type stuff around today - you'll love it.

I will say I was VERY surprised when Lois made a reference to the soldiers measuring each others phallus. That was completely unnecessary for this type of film. So for little kids this scene along with the scope of destruction may be something worth considering.

Trust me, I don't listen to him much. I was only commenting that if he is the target audience, then maybe they misfired a bit. He's a pretty level-headed dude, but maybe his movie taste is just crap. He said that end of the world movie that just came out was so funny he went twice. That may speak volumes right there.
