So far in the past month I've seen Star Trek Into Darkness, The Great Gatsby, and Fast and Furious 6, all better viewing for me than Iron Man 3.

    My humble opinion of course.

      POSSIBLE SPOILERS:

I have to disagree Hec. I was also angry at how they handled The Mandarin but other than that I think the film was better than #2. The plot was more intricate, it moved faster and the lesser parts, (the kid), were at least tolerable. I think it's a tie as which annoys me more: why they keep adding children to a story that needs none and the people who complain about children being added, LOL. He didn't take up that much screen time and he didn't steal the film from the main characters.

The AIM/Extremis underlying-plot was handled pretty well.

The new suit was not fully tested and prone to fail. It became a little too convenient in some parts of the film but it can be forgiven.

It makes sense that Pepper having ben augmented would be a better match for the bad-guy.

I think time and time again we've seen comics where Stark's other suits of armor are deployed in battle autonomously. I think the motivation here was to sell toys but it still fits with what happens in the comics.

Like johnmiic I liked IM3 and thought it was decent -as good as IM1, Cap, or Avengers no, but better than IM2, Thor, GL and most of the other recent comic films.

Sure the armor usage could be viewed as a toy grab but for me it reminded me of the armor wars and the normal way that stark was always changing or updating the armor in the comics.

I actually liked the twist to madarin - as a 70-80's comic fan it was nice not to know what the plot twist was - since as soon as Guy Pierce mentioned AIM you knew he was the villian.

I felt it was worth the price and told all my friends the same

on the other hand the trailers for man of steel have done nothing to make me want to fork down the money to see it in the theaters

I had fun watching IM3, but it has its issues. However, The movie works because of RDJ's charisma. I thought the use of the multiple armors was fun to watch, but sure it opened up a ton of plot holes. And, yeah Pepper showing up Tony in climax does devalue Iron man's rep.

But, I also agree with Hector that Trek, Gatsby and Fast 6 are better films and actually Mud is the best movie in theaters right now, but IM3 has probably outearned all 4 combined.

You have to give Marvel credit for serving up what the public thinks it wants.

Personally, I wouldn't mind an Avengers movie without Iron Man for a change.
Don't get me wrong, I love IM, but I feel that the RDJ shadow is looming a bit too large. Did he really get $50 million for Avengers?
To me, the Avengers is still Captain America (as the leader) and his friends. And I thought Hemsworth and Ruffalo were just as good in the movie.

Here's an (toy) armor question: Hot Toys is releasing a War Machine and Red Snapper armor next year ("from IM 3").
I saw just five seconds of Snapper in the last battle, but did I miss the War Machine armor?
Or is HT just making money?

The Iron Patriot armor was War Machine repainted. Maybe they will release it without the Patriot paint scheme.

That's what confused me a bit. HT is also releasing the Iron Patriot, but I never noticed a classic black War Machine. Maybe he was in the end battle somewhere.

I think the only close to comic book paint scheme was his appearance in Iron Man 2. Unless they have a deleted scene or something from IM3 with the familiar War Machine paint job.

As expected, RDJ will be back as Tony Stark in Avengers 2 & 3... but no more standalone Iron Man movies.

                              Avengers 2 News

                              “I am Iron Man.”

Tony Stark’s famous closing line to the very first Iron Man film takes on new life today as Marvel is pleased to announce the signing of Robert Downey, Jr. to reprise the role of the “billionaire, genius, playboy, philanthropist.”

Under the two-picture agreement, Downey will star as Tony Stark/Iron Man in “Marvel’s The Avengers 2” and “Marvel’s The Avengers 3.” Downey is represented at CAA by Bryan Lourd, Jim Toth and Matt Leaf and by his attorneys Tom Hansen and Stewart Brookman of the firm Hansen Jacobson.

Downey, Jr.’s last two Marvel films, 2012’s “Marvel’s The Avengers” and this year’s “Iron Man 3,” rank as two of the top five grossing films of all time, collectively earning over $2.7 billion worldwide to date. “Marvel’s The Avengers 2” is being written and directed by Joss Whedon. Featuring favorites from the first Avengers film and new Marvel characters never before seen on the big screen, “Marvel’s The Avengers 2” is slated to begin production in March 2014 and open in theaters May 1, 2015.
                              PUNY HUMANS!

Saw this yesterday, and not being a avid comic book reader, I simply found the movie boring. I kinda watched a few cartoons with the "mandarin" so was expecting some sorcery with the rings, instead we get some two bit actor, really????. I didnt watch this film for anything deep and meaningful, but to sit back and watch the action, where was it? Im just glad I didnt pay money to see this.
