Iron Man 3 almost taken $1 Billion already?

Those are impressive numbers, perhaps the RDJ factor appealed to another audience?

I would choose the "Avengers momentum" theory over a stab at a "newborn/new level RDJ charisma" theory.

Granted RDJ is the most charismatic of the 4 plus Avengers actors, so it's no coincidence that IM3 was the first post-Avengers solo movie release.

They wanted to cash in... and it worked. IM3 may be great to many of you... but it ain't *that* great

I liked how it gave closure to the Iron Man trilogy. Didn't care for the whole Manderin thing. Pepper looked damned good in the armor, though. From my understanding, RDJ is currently re-negotiating his contract with Disney/Marvel. He could make a few bucks off of this. Lucky guy. He got to wear cool armor and make out with Gweneth Paltrow.

Or the weird changes made it more palatable for a foreign market.

Time-Warner/DC had better hope Man Of Steel is a success and not another 'Superman IV' or 'Superman Returns' or else they're gonna be dealing with a lot of upset DC fans. The characters co-created by Stan the Man seem to be pretty hot these days.

remember at 12-30 bucks US a ticket (depending on 2d 3d, real 3d or imax) it is easier to get in the money up fast. That said Avengers was a good popcorn summer film so between that and IM1 it is reasonable to expect good ticket sales. The trailers are exciting and make you want to see it

I think all of us here are fans of both marvel and dc - when i was younger I was more dc with the shows and cartoons. when I got older I would read far more marvel comics than dc.

But being a fan of both - I would really see the dc movies done like the marvel.
I would love to see superman, flash, wonderwoman movies and than have them all team up for justice league movies. I know some of these are in the works, but that last superman movie was such a let down (for me at least) I really hope this new one is a re-surge for the man of steel - I really want it to be great. Lets hope it is.

I'm amazed how a terrible film has made so much money, it was one of the worst superhero flicks I've ever seen.

Man of Steel is more than likely not going to make this kinda money, but it doesn't matter, it's next to impossible to be as awful as Iron Man 3, so I'm already glad about that.

Cause The General Public is Clueless and is sold on Hype....this movie was making money regardless if anyone liked it or not...when Grandma's are talking about Iron Man...the franchise has officially Jumped The Shark. it's all about RDJ and toys

                        I have to agree totally.
                        What a disappointing movie.

Some really lame humor for starters. Happy, the clown of Stark Industries! And the old "flying armor in the groin" joke, hilarious!
They then let Stark whip some A-team style junk together, instead of waiting like another thirty minutes for his suit to power up?
Then they ruin the Mandarin forever. He's just a con man. Instead of the anticipated showdown with a great villain, you get Lava-Guy-Pearce in a white business suit breathing fire? Just what I didn't need...
Then we get a zillion armors (so something that will enable Stark to win every fight in the future without even going into battle), which Stark then proceeds to blow up...because it's good for romance.

                        What I had hoped for:
Tony fights the Mandarin (who uses his RINGS!!!!!!, yes, his rings!!!!!).
                        Pepper gets hurt or killed.
Tony gets depressed, setting it up for a darker Tony, addicted to alcohol.

Result: a much more interesting hero (like the one in the COMIC!!!!!!).

I got none of that. Most of it was RDJ being RDJ, thinking he's the funniest man in showbizz.

They sure know how to take every great thing out of the comic, "so it will appeal to a larger audience", but it sucks for the fans, that's what I think.
                        .
                        .
                        .

Gee, I'm the great Iron Man, yet I need an additional twenty remote control Iron Men's to fight my battles, lol.

My suit is supposed to be awesome, but it keeps breaking up in mid flight, lol.

I'm a technological wizard with advance weaponry, but forgot to add a defense system to shoot down three lame helicopters attacking my compound, lol.

The Iron Patriot is useless, but it can sure be used to easily kidnap presidents, lol.

I need Pepper to fight my battles, she beats up the bad guys more effectively than me, lol.

                            The kid storyline, pointless, lol.

You already mentioned the stand up comedian Stark, and the humiliation done to the poor Mandarin, what a disaster of a movie...please dear lord...no more Iron Man movies, lol

I still enjoyed the movie, but after watching Star Trek: Into Darkness this weekend, Iron Man 3's weak points became that much more apparent. Trek is undoubtedly the more satisfying film of the two, just a better made film all the way around.
