I think we are essentially talking about the same thing Terry. I loved The Avengers and hope the Big Guns franchise with Thor, Iron Man, Hulk and Cap continues... I was just musing that a spinoff SHIELD film as you suggest, might be cool too. Except I was taking a play from the current Marvel Comics branding handbook and calling this potential spinoff "Secret Avengers" (the Black Ops crew of Black Widow, Hawkeye, War Machine, Falcon, Nick Fury and The Punisher were referred to as "Ultimate Avengers" in the Ultimate U). One movie really isn't enough screen-time to service all these individual characters, and it's a shame the second stringers like Black Widow, Nick Fury, Hakweye or potentially Falcon won't have as much room to shine in the mainline Avengers film, so give them their own smaller budget movie with more down to earth threats to deal with rather than Aliens and such.

Liking the titles for the Thor and Captain America film. Thinking long term is a smart move and hopefully the buzz will continue to create excitment for the Marvel brands. There headed in the right direction and I hope it continues, doing there best to keep the duds out.

I hope "smaller" films for the franchise will be considered. I would like to see a television show developed around a second stringer from the films as well.

Im much more excited about there offerings compared to DC.

          ^Gotcha, Ed.

I like the way the more down to Earth heroes are Shield Agents, and if Marvel doesn't exploit it as a film, a TV series would be cool. JJ Abrams' Alias TV show always reminded me a bit of Black Widow. I think you could throw some of the more ground-level heroes in there to fill out a nice ensemble cast.

From the reports about Arrow from Comic Con, I'm actually warming up to the project. It appears the producers are taking their cues from the Diggle origin mini series and the Grell prestige and on-going series, which sounds interesting to me. I read were part of each episode will be devoted to Arrow's time on the deserted Island as well as his vigilante efforts. The Deathstroke mask at Comic-Con and the word the Dinah Lance and Meryln are characters in the series means there are going to be at least nods to the DC lore.

I have no doubt they will set him up to join the Avengers in the second movie.

So, if I want to look for that series should I enter "Brunaker Winter Soldier" or is there a TPB of it or something? I might also need help finding stories of the Ultimate Universe Falcon, if you wouldn't mind. I'm embarrassed to say that I haven't been following recent comics lately, but I have been meaning to.

My recommendation would be to just start off via the omnibus editions, which cover most of the ground for Winter Soldier from the start of Brubaker's run.

It's jumping you right into the middle of the Ultimates Universe, but I'm currently enjoying the way Jonathan Hickman is handling the Black Ops Avengers team, including the Falcon, Hawkeye and Black Widow, in The Ultimates. Ultimate Falcon first appeared in the Ultimate Galactus trilogy.

Looks like we might be seeing the Silver Surfer and Galactus in future Marvel Studios movies.

Marvel are supposedly negotiating a deal with Fox regarding the characters.

                  From AICN:

If you've been waiting, hoping and wishing for Marvel to get their hands back on the rights of some of the properties they had sold away in the past, then today is your lucky day. No, they're not getting back Spider-Man or the X-Men, but the Silver Surfer and Galactus may be in play, and all it's going to cost Marvel is a little more time without Daredevil.

                  Let me explain...

20th Century Fox has been trying to get something started with a DAREDEVIL reboot for awhile now, ever since Ben Affleck and Mark Steven Johnson damaged the property with their subpar 2003 solo film for the character. David Slade has been attached for quite some time, although there has hardly been significant progress in getting a new film into production.

And now Fox's backs are against the wall.

According to Variety, unless Fox has a new DAREDEVIL picture in front of cameras by October 10, the rights to Daredevil would then revert back to Marvel Studios. But not so fast...

Fox has plans to turn DAREDEVIL into a "Frank Miller-esque, hardcore 70s thriller" with none other than Joe Carnahan at the helm... but it's going to take them a little more time to get such a film together, much later than that October deadline.

So here comes Marvel coming to the negotiating table with all the leverage in the world, willing to let Fox extend their time frame in order to make the less family-friendly version of DAREDEVIL.

But what do they want in return? Silver Surfer and Galactus.

Marvel is willing to trade that extended use of Daredevil in exchange for the right to use characters from the Fantastic Four segment of the Marvel Universe, with their eyes set on Silver Surfer and Galactus for use in their further expansion of the Marvel Movie Universe, post-AVENGERS.

Josh Trank is attached to direct a FANTASTIC FOUR reboot for Fox, but that doesn't mean the Surfer or Galactus has to be a part of his vision for the foursome. It also means we may be moving closer to bringing the rights together for quite a few of these characters with Marvel Studios perhaps partnering up with Fox on future pictures that may involve those whose rights don't belong to Marvel currently.

Negotiations are ongoing, and really the choice is Fox's right now. They can risk losing Daredevil for nothing, as October is rapidly approaching and looks like an impossible date to make in order to hold onto those rights, or they can offer up a couple of characters that don't hold as much value to them in order to proceed with Joe Carnahan doing DAREDEVIL. It's quite clear which characters are most important to each studio, so let's see this deal happen, and some really quality flicks made as a result, because just the possibilities of such an agreement are extremely exciting.

Or why don't Fox do what they did with the Fantastic Four originally, shoot a no budget version, that they shelve just to hold onto the rights? Out of all the characters, it would seem DD could be done on a shoestring.

In August 2012, Iger announced that Whedon will return to write and direct The Avengers 2 and develop a Marvel TV show for ABC.

                            Cap 2 news:

In August 2012, the New York Post reported that Anna Kendrick, Felicity Jones, and Imogen Poots were front-runners for a leading role in the film.
I'm guessing the role is for Sharon Carter.
