It's my understanding that Action takes place about 5 years before the JLA series which when it started was about 5 years before now takes place. I could be wrong. Anyway, that gives Superman about 10 years of history. I'm going on the notion that Batman is right on par with Superman or just behind. Thus making it possible to have 4 Robins.
If Damian Wayne is his son and he was conceived over 10 years ago (they stated he was 10 years old in the last ish of Batman and Robin), then Bruce had to hook up with Talia over 10 years ago. They haven't said if it was Bruce (in training to be Batman?) or if he was Batman already.

Arguably, it might not be a quick buck... Every few decades they do a full not so clean revamp and it manages to propel them forward for a couple of decades by generating new readership. the Silver Age revamps and the Eighties Crisis being the best examples.

Not saying folks necessarily have to like it, but there is precedence for throwing over the old in favor of the old, only to have the old creep right back in over time anyways. Silver Age characters created rather than bringing back the Golden Age ones, but the Golden Age guys show back up again anyways. post crisis they again get rid of the golden age guys, plus Supergirl, Barry Allan, eventually Hal Jordon, Oliver Queen, etc, yet they inevitably show back up again after being given a long enough break to be missed. It's just the cycle of novelty.

At this point we know the cycle and shouldn't be surprised.

In the meanwhile we still have a ridiculous wealth around the character that we never dreamed of having back in the day. Best of both worlds really. They are well stocked to keep a fan of the golden age and Silver age Alan Scott from feeling oddly deprived.

Marvel comics had the key when it came to the "reboot". They created the Marvel Ultimate Universe for those younger folks who don't want to be burdened with years of history and knowledge. Then you can keep the regular Marvel universe or read the new stuff. It was a good choice.
If some of you remember Marvel's first attempt was those God awful stories where they created on that lone new Marvel world and tried rebooting Captain America and several Avengers. The reason it didn't work was because they left behind Spiderman and the X-men and thus was a mistake and they all found there way back home.
That's why I think they went on later to create the new Marvel Ultimate Universe. My only beef about it is the Nick Fury. They used the Sam Jackson styled Nick Fury in the movies. That is not Nick Fury to me!!!!!!!!

DC should have created a Ultimate DC universe but they went this route. It's inevitable, it will fail and things will work there way back. This JSA is just one of many things that stink about what DC has done.

I hate the word "REBOOT". DC sucks for doing this!

I totally forgot that the GL in Kingdom Come was Allan Scott. That's the armor he's wearing!! It's all falling together...somehow...

^I'd have to agree, an Ultimate DC line would have been the way to go here. What they should think about doing now is a reverse Ultimate line. Do a Classic DC line. Devote a dozen titles to it or so.

Wasn't that because the GA versions of GL, Flash, The Atom and Hawkman had been out of print for several years that National/Julie Schwartz figured nobody would remember them? Remember, comic readers weren't supposed to hang around as long as they/we did. But comic fandom was really starting to take off and people DID remember the Golden Age versions and began to inquire as to what ever happened to them...thus "The Flash of Two Worlds" story.

That would have been the best solution to all of this IMO...

That's when they turned over "Avengers", "Captain America", "Fantastic Four" and "Iron Man" to Image guys Lee and Liefeld under the "Heroes Reborn" umbrella. But that only lasted for 12 issues and then it was done.

But it is interesting that many of those same creators are involved with the DCnU and the New 52.

Was it ever established it was Scott ifn KC? I've read that book more times than I could count and I don't recall him ever having a name. I do remember at the end when GL gets a seat on the world council, his name plaquard says New OA. Scott has no ties to the corp. My money is its actually Jordan but visually inspired by Scott. Ross is good at mixing characters.

Alan was identified as GL by Waid and Ross in Kingdom Come: Revlations, and other supplements to the Graphtti Designs KC slipcase edition.

Wasn't that because the GA versions of GL, Flash, The Atom and Hawkman had been out of print for several years that National/Julie Schwartz figured nobody would remember them? Remember, comic readers weren't supposed to hang around as long as they/we did. Amen. There's the difference. The original characters were left intact.

All DC had to do was shift the focus of their books to a different Earth. They had 52 to choose from before the reboot. That would have allowed them to rape and pillage all they wanted and leave the standard DCU alone...although it wasn't what it used to be.

I would like to see DC do a small classic line. One Superman book. One Batman book. One GL, Flash, etc. Adventure Comics with everyone else, and Justice League. Maybe Teen Titans call it good. Dick Grayson is Robin, Wally is Kid-Flash, etc.

^^^ Ill have to get that KC companion material. That's by far my favorite book ever written or illustrated. I needs the Absolute edition. Well at least my fifteen years of speculation is over. Alan Scott it is.

I think DC did have two small initiatives to try and replicate the Marvel Ultimate experiment (which was a ridiculous success for Marvel when you think about how much of their movie/tv properties, Ultimate FF aside, seem to have been driven by the Ultimate Universe).

The All Star line and Earth 1 graphic novels were/are attempts to "Ultimatize" DC kinda sorta. Doesn't seem to be much follow through with them (supposedly Adam Hughes All Star Wonder Woman might still be a go at some point. I think most have given up hope on All Star Batman and Robin finishing off).

A "must" for any Kingdom Come fan is the Comicology Kingdom Come companion, which will never again get reprinted after they got spanked by DC legal. Great interviews with the creators, annotations and sketches and designs by Alex Ross.

If anyone here can win this auction, I'd say you'd be very fortunate if you're a KC fan.

I have an issue of their expanded Kingdom Come stories that focused around the daughter of Nightwing and Starfire. She called herself Nightstar. Anyway, at the beginning of the issue they're on a space station made up entirely of green lantern construct energy. As people are boarding the station there are warning signs against bringing wood aboard the station and how it isn't safe. So of course the villain of the story (and forgive me its been years since I read it so I don't remember who...) crashed a spaceship in to the side of it with a wooden battering ram.
