Next up for "reboot": Alan Scott

I'm pretty upset about all of this JSA "reboot" stuff. I feel like this is a taboo thing that should be left alone.

Here is the latest Alan Scott reboot picture. All of these JSA guys are going to be the same age as their Earth one counter parts but it says they are going to keep the same personality of the character.

Gee...looking at this picture of Alan Scott he looks like he's lost his ****ing mind. Way to go DC. Not.

To spare you the pain from going to this page here is what it says...

Talking to Comic Book Resources, the writer of the upcoming Earth 2 series (James Robinson) had this to say about his take on Alan Scott. "Alan Scott really is the big guy of Earth-Two. Quite literally. He's very tall, he's dynamic, he's charismatic and he's also the bravest, most gallant man on the planet. He's like the great knight defending the Earth. He would die for his planet, he would die for his people. He is the epitome of what a hero should be. And I think even if he wasn't that way when he first began in the 1940s, he is kind of evolved to that in terms of his place in the Justice Society. I have always felt that he was that character and I have tried to keep that spirit and element of him alive." He goes into much more detail about his plans for this alternate world, so be sure to click on the link below to check it out. For now, here is the debut of Scott on the cover of Earth 2 #3.

Looks more like a lunatic than the best of the best hero type.

That's some incredible artwork, but nothing heroic about it. That's a cool idea to make him the no.1 hero on that Earth, but that cover is not a good representation of what they are marketing. I see they are ripping the Ross armor design again. Dear God, why didn't they just hire him for the reboot? I can't think of anyone who has more reverence and respect for the iconic DC heroes and characters.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

Robinson had already explored the notion of Green Lantern being the number one hero prior, in The Golden Age, so it's not necessarily a new idea... Particularly since he launched JSA with the premise as well.

I remember many fans were upset that the golden age Johnny Thunder and Atom were slightly tweaked to suit the story he was telling, but Golden Age is considered a classic now. Particularly since it evolved into Starman and JSA. Not surprised they tapped Robinson for this.

So, gone is the classic costume in favor of some Image style armor. I guess the "old" JSA looks were too corny & old-fashioned for the likes of Mr. Jim Lee.
          Bah.

Ah, yes but would Alex Ross have added the now-standard v-neck mandarin collar?

You know, Golden Age/Earth-2 Green Lantern always did have one of the gaudiest costumes in all of comics but it made him unique. This junk just makes him look like any other Green Lantern that's out there...

It's kind of hard to know what's going on from one picture taken out of context.

I'm sure that the new designs are what these editors at DC have been wanting to do for a long time but for Christ sakes there should be a law that you can't go back and change the past. Ever since the "reboot" word has been invented now every Tom, Dick and Harry has had their secret origins tooled along with their personalities and costumes. DC has really went over board.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind the art work in the designs. I am looking forward to see maybe a talented S.O.B. like perhaps BlackKnight who you know will customize some of these new style reboots or two, and giving us a 3D idea of a cool custom reboots character figures soon. Along with giving some of us the idea that it's not that bad on a toy figure but in a comic book when do you draw the line?

Alot of diehard comic board geeks have been posting rumors and saying/theorizing that this new universe is just an experiment and when the rebooted DC universe eventually takes a slide in sales, perchance the "REAL DC UNIVERSE" will be waiting in the wing on one of the 52 new planets or actually turn out to be the real Earth and the reboot world could wind up becoming the new DC Ultimate Universe line.

I would like to think that is more then a board rumor and Dick Grayson can return in his past to being the first Robin. I don't like this reboot Nightwing (never being Robin) one darn bit.

Justice League isn't bad but it's not the JLA I know and this JSA is a total flop of a being giant turd. Make mine Marvel until the real Superman and Batman return!

That's gotta be an Ivan Reis piece! That man is a freakin' artistic genius!!!

If you examine the picture, I wonder if the reason that Alan Scott is screaming like a lunatic is because his ring hand is all skeletal...? An indication of rebirth or death or something perhaps...?
