I use canvas board...and believe it or not, it's the cheap stuff from Wal-Mart. It's really served me well and costs a quarter of the expensive stuff. My paints are those little bottles of Folk Art acrylics you can get at Jo-Ann's or Michaels. The colors are very vivid, they cover really well, and at $1.29 a bottle you can't beat them. I prefer liquid acrylics to those thick ones in the tube. All Electro's effects will be done by hand. I don't have an airbrush...tried it once, couldn't get the hang of it.

      Day three progress...

NOW it's starting to look like something! Painting web lines is a pain in the butt, BTW.

Man, you could seriously pass this off as a Romita painting. It's beautiful.

Wow, this looks great for the tools you are using. I would seriously like to give something like this a try. I can draw (at least enough to where it looks like what im looking at) and enjoy coloring so this might be a good activity to take up. Theres an infinate number of comic covers to choose from to! (I might try a few paint by numbers to get into the groove though)

              Looking fantastic.

Wow! That's looking AMAZING, enyawd! I can't wait to see the finished piece! Are you going to grace it with the classic AMS logo, as well?
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

I'm a fan of the cheapie acrylics myself. I haven't painted in years, but I have work from 20 years ago with that paint, and it still looks good.

This is making me consider dusting my brushes off. It looks like so much fun.

Nope...no text. I just wanted to paint the scene...I may do some pin-up type paintings with character logos later.

My next cover is all picked out...it's gonna feature the Lizard!

Cant wait. It does look like a Romita cover and thats a very high compliment. I would have to do something a little more simple, lol.
This is one of the painted covers I remember most from back in the day: Amazon.com: Marvel Graphic Novel #46 The Amazing Spider-Man: Parallel Lives (9780871355737): Gerry Conway, Alex Saviuk, Andy Mushynsky, Bob Sharen: Books
Ive always wondered why the MM didnt have a fan art section. Do you think it would be a good idea?

Man, that's is just coming out so sweet and I agree, I love the liquid acrylics far better than the tubes.... the paint is easier to handle and it just flows...I echo the same sentiment. you do have a Romita paint style at least in this one it's showing it....again I applaud you for keeping it real, that's a true artist in my book.....

Day four progress...the face of Electro!

Well, this is probably the last WIP I'll be posting...I'm gonna try to finish it over the weekend...I also adjusted the settings on my scanner so the colors are more accurate now to the actual painting.

Looking great. Spidey is stunning. THAT'S Spider-Man. Love the yellow rim lighting.

I'm telling you, you could sell this as a Romita piece. I don't think you should, but you COULD.

Can't wait to see the finished piece.
