You must try to generate happiness within yourself. If you aren't happy in one place, chances are you won't be happy anyplace. -Ernie Banks -
I don't understand why some of us superhero fan geeks would refuse to see ANY superhero movie...it almost kinda boggles my mind, lol.
Hey...never been a fan of Green Lantern, and when I eventually watched it...I hated it...but guess what...I still went to see it because I'm a superhero fan geek...simple as that.
I will be watching Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers, and The Amazing Spider-Man...because it's in my nature.
Heck, I hate almost all of Nick Cage's flicks, but I will still go see Ghost Rider...and get this...I wasn't too crazy about the first one...but I will see the new Ghost Rider regardless...because again...I'm a superhero fan geek...it's in my nature.
Amen...
P.S. OK, I take it ALL back...I'm a Supes fan...but I HATE everything about Smallville...so this post will self-destruct in five seconds...and no...I didn't accept this mission...

I'm actually thinking that there might be some kind of long tail model for green lantern... It does seem like the kind of movie that plays cable forever and ever. And with the licensed goods like toys and such... Warners would be getting a huge chunk up front for footing the bill for their Multi million dollar two hour commercial, even if Mattel and the retailers were stuck with a tone of product.Comment

I'll bring my kid to Avengers, in fact I bring him to most Marvel movies because I know it'll be acceptable for a 9 year old to see.
Can't say that for the Nolan Bat Films (I enjoy them though) or any DC film at all reallu, so I think Avengers will have broader appeal and bigger box office.Places to find PlaidStallions online: https://linktr.ee/Plaidstallions

The film was planned to be a franchise but at this point, I think it's a lot easier for Warners to not make a sequel than than to throw another $200,000 million into the wind.
Really hope I'm wrong because I'd love to see the DC heroes all over the big screen like Marvels.Comment

Very tough decision on this one:
The Avengers- Kids will love all their favorite superheros in one movie! Families will go to this one!
Spidey- Will catch the interests of all people even if it is a reboot
Dark Knight- Will be slow to catch the last one, but it will do great at the box office. Parents won't be so quick to take their kids to this one until they see it first due to the dark nature of the film and the violence.
IMHO of course!Comment

Both Bat Man & Spider-Man are massive icons of popular American culture, so are in the wider public consciousness. Bat Man will have a huge repeat following from The Dark Knight. Spider-Man may also garner some good will from the previous Spidey movies. So i think The Avengers has a fair way to go yet. The trailer is a cracking start though.Comment

My 2¢
The Avengers - A lot is riding on this film, it's been talked about since 2005. It's been built up by 5 movies; Iron Man, Iron Man 2, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger; all of which have gotten positive reviews (with Iron Man getting universal/critical acclaim) while the rest have gotten positive reviews and nice box office $$$. A preview at the end TFA, 2 full-length trailers, and 2 Super-bowl trailers have no doubt raised expectations of the film. Add on an all-star leading cast has also added to the hype, with the 'favorites' being Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans. All of them have made $1.84114392 billion together, a pretty impressive amount. So how will The Avengers fair box-office wise? Will it surpass this amount? Will it get critical acclaim like Iron Man? Time will tell.
The Dark Knight Rises - It's the final film, the shocking conclusion, the ending we never saw coming, 'The Legend Ends'. It's been built up by only two movies, but both have gotten universal/and critical acclaim as well as many Top 10 lists. Making about $1.37463184 billion, even though that’s less then all 5 MCU movies, it’s still pretty impressive for only being 2 movies. With spoilers being dropped left and right, as well as a suspenseful trailer, how will TDKR fair? Will it be the best of the three? Will all of the hype be worth it? We’ll just have to wait and see.
The Amazing Spider-Man – A reboot that has been met with mixed reception. Several people have liked the darker tone, some still want Tobey, and some are just happy there’s another Spider-Man movie. However, many have wanted to see Spidey tangle with The Lizard on the big screen and with TASM that wish has finally been granted. So far 2 trailers have been released, with one trailer being met with luke-warm reception and the other with positive, it’s a risky gamble being released only 5 years after the original and 1 year after Spider-Man 4 (which the Lizard was a rumored villain) was suppose to come out. So how will The Amazing Spider-Man fair with 2 other huge blockbusters being released around the same time? How will it fair with the original Spider-Man films? Only when it’s released, we will know.
What I want the results to be:
1. The Avengers
2. The Dark Knight Rises
3. The Amazing Spider-Man
How it will probably turn out:
1. The Dark Knight Rises
2. The Avengers
3. The Amazing Spider-Mansigpic

I hope they all do blockbuster numbers but I think Avengers might do the best.
This is the 7th? Batfilm. Avengers is all these heroes from recent movies teaming up together. That will be new to general audiences. It may be a factor. I know the X men are team movies but they started that way.
Spidey has a lot to overcome. New cast, new story, 4th film overall. Unless it can totally reinvent the franchise like Batman Begins. Which is what they may be trying to do by casting well known names for Aunt May, Uncle Ben and all.
So my guess is Avengers, Batman, Spiderman.
Unless Thor beats them all again.
Whatever their final order, it will be a good summer for Super Heroes.Better late than never.....Comment

No disrespect to Hector for posting this as I'm sure he meant it to be a good topic for discussion..........
With that said, honestly, I don't give two Bleeps about what a movie takes in here or makes in another country. NOT a single dime of it is coming my way, so really who gives a Flying Bleep how rich some studio got off it. numbers mean absolutely nothing to me.
All I want is something well made, popcorn and soda fun so I can take my kids to see it.......and like Hector said I'll see anything. I'm my own critic, I don't give two squats what a critic has to say about a movie. that's their opinion not mine.
As for the GL movie, I dug it that's all that matters to me. could it had been better...sure but at least it got made....and I'd like for them to do another one...why not? sequels to bad movies get made all the time......anyone ever saw the Police Academy movies? they made six crappy sequels that get played on tv now and an 8th movie due to begin shooting in april of this year. talk about beating a dead horseLast edited by kingdom warrior; Mar 4, '12, 1:24 AM.Comment

^On one hand, I'm like Kingdom Warrior. I don't really care what movies make and I tend to read reviews of movies after I've seen them to compare notes rather than be guided by them. Last year, I loved Money Ball and Hugo, but I've got not clue how well they did or didn't do at the box office. But, with super-hero movies, I do take some notice of the box office because I do want more super-hero movies made, specifically DC super-hero movies.
Warners may or may not be able to write off the losses from the Green Lantern film, but by it being a very poor performing tent-pole movie, the GL movie not only all but killed the chance of a sequel but also cast a chilling effect on other DC super-hero projects.
Just a few weeks prior to the GL movie's release, Warners openly talked about the development of Flash and Shazam movies and there was some talk of a Justice League film. All that talk dried up following the GL film's opening weekend. To make up for the loss of the Flash film, which Warners had wanted for summer 2013, the upcoming Superman movie was moved from Dec. 2012 to summer 2013.
While some lament that Marvel doesn't have control of all of its properties (X-Men, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, Daredevil), the good thing about it is that a flop of a Ghost Rider or Punisher film doesn't cut off the water on other Marvel projects that are at the other studios.
Certainly, with Warners, Batman is considered evergreen and Superman is well enough known that the studio will try again even though Superman Returns didn't produce as expected. But it seems the DOA Green Lantern movie killed Warner's confidence in its B-list super-hero properties.
Maybe if Man of Steel does well, DC might try some other super-hero characters but if it does relatively meager business like GL, I think Warners will be too scared — and rightly so — to take a risk on anything but Batman.Comment

I really sorta Agree with the Points KW and Terry Make inreguards to Thier Opinions on How Much money a Flick will Make or Makes.... I really don't give a Damn, I'm not getting anything. If I like the Idea of a Movie ...., I try to go during the Summer ...., Last Summer I saw a Record of 7 Different Movies. That's Huge for someone like me ..., because I really only see 3to4 Movies a Year in Theaters ...., But the # does seem to have grown in recent Years.
Just because the Population of Mindless Drones Flocks to the Theater to see a Movie ..., doesn't mean I will Go, nore do they ever get my Money. A Very good case in Point is Harry Potter and Twilight.
It does Suck that The GL Sequel seems to be put on hold ..., or canceled.
I believe with part 2, The Kinks woulda been worked out ...., + Sinestro is already a 10,000 time Villian. And I have always hated the Idea that Warner Controls the Intire DC Universe in Movies. Thats the Main Problem with no DC Movies imo.Last edited by BlackKnight; Mar 4, '12, 10:49 AM.... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.

I don't think it's just about how a movie is going to do, but also how you think your going to like it. So much of that perspective is what guides people to feel what will be popular anyway. So for instance, last year was a complete surprise for me. I never thought Apes or X-Men would be films I would even like, let alone be successful. As it turns out, they were my two favorites of the year. I was very surprised by that.Comment
