That would work for Mr. Mind
I still like the design from the early 80s. The robotic version. I probably wouldnt want to even see a design made these days...

Does that fall under artistic influence of just flat out plagiarism? The Frank/Johns story was one of the best Superman books I've ever read and should have been used for the basis of a film script. This new concept looks like an android drooling Milton Bradley Cootie. How's that for an obscure 70's reference?
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

What's plagerized? Clearly Frank's design borrows a LOT from HR Giger, wouldn't be to surprised if that pic wasn't a Giger layout. And his neck piece is stolen from Darth Vader.

                        I. Hs own words...

Gary Frank: Geoff and I speak quite a lot before and during each issue and we tend to have a pretty good idea what needs to be happening. Geoff was very clear that this Brainiac must, above all else, be scary. He talked about [artist H.R.] Giger being a good starting place, so I went with that. I thought it was important that everything associated with Brainiac should have a particular flavor so if, for instance, Brainiac's bicycle showed up in issue 999, it would be immediately clear where it came from. If something it is black, shiny, bio-metallic with pink strip-lighting, it's probably Brainiac's.

After that, we talked about how Brainiac himself would be portrayed. We basically have a guy who doesn't move for centuries but lives an internal life of the mind. I thought it might be cool to give him something like a cocoon. When we were dealing with Colu in the last arc we talked about a society that functioned almost like a beehive or an ants' nest so the insect parallels were already suggesting themselves. As for Brainiac out of the cocoon, that was a little more complicated.

I have the 70's version that's by Schaper Neat design for Braniac, but he does remind me of Mr. Mind a bit.
                          It's all good!

So.... they did to them what Trek did with the Borg?

that one was a bit too terminator I'm surprised Stan Winston didn't sue.

I think the version created by Bruce Timm was ok
