I only really know Superman post Crisis. It's what I grew up with.

the design seems heavily influenced by the Byrne post crisis kryptonian garb - and I don't think that is a good thing

Oh sign me up for the oldster superclub too

I actually bears a resemblance the way I described Jor-El's costume looking in my own (unsold and never-reviewed) screenplay from years ago . . . so I'm kinda biased toward it.

    Fair question.

I realize everything we've seen so far has been taken out of context, but I have yet to see anything to give me a glimmer of hope these film makers have any idea who Superman is and what he truly stands for. I see costume revisions where they are not needed. I see the unnecessary origin story being told again. I see a villain that, while a formidable enemy, has been done before and better. Nobody beats Terrance Stamp. I see the childhood idol I grew up with slowly slipping away to the contemporary techno beats of a drum I no longer follow.

Nobody wants to see a successful Supes film more than me, and I truly hope this is it. Let's just hope the film is waaaaaay more than the sum of the parts we've seen. I will sincerely try to keep an open mind till we see a trailer sometime in 2012, probably Summer.

To me this costume looks a lot like what I've seen of Kryptonians from reading the World of New Krypton, and Supergirl, and even the 80's Byrne Superman stuff.

When I was young, I used to think they just dressed Brando up in tin foil. As it turns out it was more complex then that. This is just as complex just in a different way...

Why not at least wait till you see a trailer or something.

I dunno, Kryptonians as battle happy warriors, kinda like Klingons or Romulans could be a fun twist. Might explain why they didn't get any offworld help when their planet exploded. Kind of like a ST6 Praxis sutuation...

This is really bad. I guess I'm old now; I just don't get this at all and I feel completely alienated from today's version of Superman.
ever since Byrne, Ordway,Stern,Simonson, etc left i havent really been that happy with Supermans titles in many years. thats part of the reason i only read Pre crisis now. Bronze age supes is alsome!

I'm in too. We'll have to come up with a secret handshake. And, I need to know what chips to pick up for our meeting.

It looks interesting but someone please tell me why Superman or Jor El's costume must have scales? This isn't an Aquaman flick and to the best of my understanding Krypton has never been depected as a water world.

    Scales. Really?.

Otherwise it does look as if they're going for a "Superman the Barbarian" trip. Time will tell.

Eh it's not totally bad I can deal with it.....when i first saw Brando as Jor-El I laughed i thought he looked ridiculous in a white wig and thought the Kryptonian outfits were not so special except when light hit on it and they turned white and had a glow.....I always thought was funny was Brando saying Criptin not Krypton.....
