Can somebody clarify what "sold out" means?

There's still a bunch of this junk sitting on the rack at Barnes and Noble right now. How does that justify going to 2nd - 4th printing?

I imagine "sold out" means everything they printed was ordered by vendors. So there was no overstock left.

        Yeah, probably so.

But doesn't Barnes and Noble order their comics on a returnable basis? So the publisher is out of 1st prints now, but in about a week or 2 they could be flooded with all the left over 1st prints coming back from Barnes and Noble and other newstands, yes?

I just question whether this is the home run DC is trying to make it out to be.

When Barnes & Nobles returns magazines, they strip the covers off and just send those in. So I don't think you can count on those coming back if they are set up the same way.

You know how I hate Grant Morrison's Batman? As it turns out I love his Superman. Action Comics #2 is leading in to something great. I'm really enjoying it.

The second printings mentioned in that article are now flooding my local comic stores.
But for some of the New 52 titles, there are still plenty of the 1st printings sitting there unsold.

The first issue of Catwoman sold out within about an hour of the store opening.

I think the novelty will have shown to have worn off quickly when October sales come in.

Gotta say OMAC is a pretty fun read after two issues, great mix of Kirby, shady DCU Govt organizations and oddball characters. Surprised to see Amazing Man and Sarge Steel show up. Can't wait for the Frankenstein crossover.

Will probably stick with JLA for a few months, and see how Action Comics, Superman, Detective and one or two others progress.

This quote about the New 52 from Jim Shooter's blog made me laugh:

DC is like Lucy and we’re like Charlie Brown. DC keeps yanking the football away and we keep yelling Aaugh! and landing hard. They’re very sure we’ll keep coming back and try to kick the ball again. And, knowing some of the perps fairly well, I can assure you they’re pretty smug about it.

I'll stick with a few story arcs to begin with. Nothing has really resonated with me, though; however, I really enjoyed Flash and Aquaman. The one I did not like at all was Firestorm. Not digging the over the top violence and I had been hoping that they would try and bring some charm back into the characters. I found nothing redeeming about Ronnie or Jason and the gimmick of two Firestorms that form "Fury" made me think of Voltron a bit.
                            It's all good!

I didn't understand why they jettisoned the whole origin with this new version...Everything that was gained in character development between Ronnie and Jason during "Blackest Night" and "Brightest Day" seems to be gone. I liked the fact that Ronnie was the dumb jock that had previous experience as the original Firestorm while Jason was the booksmart kid that was a newbie as part of the Firestorm matrix. All of that seems lost now with this new origin....
