You can tell corporate America isn't too impressed with these movies....hardly any promotions...GL at Subway? Cap at Dunkin? We did get Thor at BK but McDonald's totally passed on all of these...

    No cereal cross-overs either...

After seeing how BK had those cool Star Trek glasses when that movie came out I was hoping for something along those lines for the Thor, GL and Cap movies. Oh well as a glass/cup collector I'll be picking up a few of the Dunkin' Cap cups.

I seen that commercial for Cap/Dunkin the other day. I thought it was pretty neat.

What ever happened to the good old days when there were really cool promotions like real die cast cars in cereal boxes? Now there seems to be a bunch of crap these days. We may get a bone thrown our way every now and then. Still not like the good old days though.

well Subway is like the second or third largest chain around, so GL is that much of a surprise for it.

Once again... marketing that is fun for us because we understand the wink. But to people who still don't know much about Cap', this crawls with camp and hurts the cause of getting people into theaters to watch this film. In my eyes, you don't start doing parody of heroes until they are well established in the mainstream perspective.

Subway surpassed McDonalds as the number one food franchise at one point......I could be wrong although but still in the top ten nothing to sneeze at..

I know I keep beating the same drum, but - to some degree box office does not matter because of this. These characters (IPs in the corporate world) exist for marketing and branding to the people that finance these things.

You're kidding yourself if you don't think there's tons of money in this kind of promotion. There might not be more companies using Cap right now because Dunkin' Donuts may have paid for exclusive rights in the food market.

They're not planning a 4 way connecting movie franchise around IPs that they're hoping will sell - they're planning it because they KNOW it will sell. And again, I don't mean "sell" as in box office.

These characters equal valuable branding - this is why these movies get made.

Having said that, that was a fun ad. Really cute.

Did McDonald's pass, or were they outbid? I'd be interested in seeing any articles or info on this, if you've seen any.

Again, I think it's just the opposite. I think these corporations are falling all over themselves to get in on these things. This type of promotion has totally changed the way the film business works.

Oh, I'm not sure really....I just assumed that if McD's WANTED to be in any of this they would have been...Even though they may not be "#1" they still are the go-to for the kids' meal toys. I wouldn't even think of Subway for a kids' meal promotion....

I got those to. This is why I still like 7-11 for all of the neat promotions such as the KISS cups a while back. Neat stuff.

It would be great to see Captain America Cups as well.

Okay, because I don't know either - but it's just as likely for me to believe that Subway tossed in a bigger bid so they could build up their kid's market.

It would be interesting to know exactly what's going on here.

There's also a Captain America Tri-color Coolotta drink, (red, white and blue). Not sure if there's really a cup. All the cups have Cap's shield on them but these are disposable cups.

I think these Corps. look at Capt, Thor and Green Lantern like clown shows for kids. They know there is money that can be made but beyond that they probably think it's all a freak show. I wonder if Stan Lee got another damn check for the dog being named after him the the commercial.
