    I liked the Lex scenes.

As a whole, it wasn't a bad finale. I just felt that Clark was taking his sweet time in confronting this disaster that was about to destroy the whole world. I found myself yelling at the screen (which happens to me when I watch the show normally) "What are you doing?? Go save the world!" but with a few f-bombs for good measure.

I liked the end with Perry White, Lois, and Jimmy at the Planet. That felt like Superman to me.

I have never been a loyal watcher of the show but I know many have and are sad to see it end.

I will disagree with Kingdom Warrior about using the williams theme or donner inspired shots. The williams SUPERMAN theme was the definitive them for superman from 1979-1988 and apeared in all the shows including superboy and the cbs cartoon. John williams genius makes the theme timeless and it as Donner put it when that theme "sings" SUPERMAN you feel it in your heart.

I may never sit down and watch the whole series but who knows dvd/netflix makes anything possible

OMG! I was equal parts crying and cheering. That was SO satisfying! That's how you wrap up a series! After so many lame series finales lately <coughLOSTcough> it was refreshing to see one done RIGHT.
Nobody who already hated the series was going to magically enjoy it from that finale but those of us who watched EVERY episode for the last TEN YEARS received our promised send-off and it was SPECTACULAR!!!
I kind of wished they had dealt with the Darkseid subplot earlier in the season and used something else for Clark's big debut (and Smallville's goodbye) but it is what it is and was done right!
Congratulations to the producers & writers and actors and THANK YOU for the last ten years. I'm going to miss having my Superman fix weekly now.
That last scene had me jumping out of my chair and shouting with enthusiasm!

I only caught the tail end thanks to a thunderstorm knocking out the dish in my hotel room but while I loved the Williams score and the fan service, the glimpse of Welling in the suit looked like a pixelated Brandon Routh from the playstation game.

I've never been a follower but I didn't dislike Smallville either, anything Superman that lasts for ten years is ok in my book. I just thought they'd do a bigger finish,

First of all i had to google who chuck cunningham was lol my dad would have probably slapped me in the back of the head for not knowing a happy days character

Tell us more about your take on the character of Superman.
I didnt see the Reeves Version of superman until i was 17 so the version was really weird or me. I grew up on The superman animated series and justice league animated series until Smallville came on. when i thought the name superman i didnt think of him as grounded to metropolis as in the reeves movie but, a hero that watched over the universe. also I only was accoostomed to superman being part of a team like the justice league like eventually came to be in smallville. I deffinitly think that there superman is different to many different generations and it takes more to make him "super"

Superheroes - esp Superman- are modern day mythology. They change from one generation to the next.

Since many of us here are measuring this version against others (mostly 78/80 Reeve).
This is your superman. Tell us more about your take on the character of Superman.
I was really suprised that none of the justice league was in it and conner was not at the wedding.
    me too

Also Is anybody else thinking what Im thinking.....where the hell is shelby they are selling the farm and the dog is nowhere in sight lol
I think Chuck Cunningham adopted Shelby.

Almost forgot! Was freaking estatic to see Aaron Ashmore back as the actual Jimmy put some peace to that....
I dug the Jimmy Olsen cameo as well.

I think they should in some way brought back season 1 characters like lana and pete but seeing as Sam Jones III was not allowed to leave the country he was ruled out and lana already split there was really no way for them to come back...I was really suprised that none of the justice league was in it and conner was not at the wedding.

Im really wishing for a spinoff I need something to watch now and seeing as WonderWoman was axed they have the airtime they need to pull it off. they have so many different spinoffs they can do too and I would like to see something that relates to smallville in the future even a movie just something!

i guess im in the group that did NOT like it, was looking forward to a darkseid superman fight, he took the darkness away to easily, all he had to do was push the planet away? ok whatever. I also wanted to see more suit time, I liked the final scene and the music thats about it.

did Moore state "They all are." ?

though that statement is what sparked the controversy

    yes
I was half expecting Smallville to do the whole "legend of Superman" thing when I saw the bit with Chloe. They kind of touched on that aspect, but what happened within the series was still canon, and I was glad for it.

We all know what Alan Moore said about imaginary stories...

Hue note that you DON'T subscribe to that - you state that you DON'T see a distinction between imaginary and fictional

I feel like I'm (1 of) the only that subscribes to that notion.

That comic book is another thing that bugged me. I guess just about everyone now knows that Superman and Clark are the same guy.

The characters DO matter to me... it's the ending which I view, as "unrelated", that doesn't matter.

As far as I'm concerned the world in the show that is "REALITY"
in that show compared to the "dream world" (aka the actual series)
is just as removed and inconsequential to the actual series storyline
    as OUR reality is.

Only YOU can make yourself the "sucka".
