I gotta agree with you here...I think it was ridiculous for Batman to go up against Darkseid in Grant Morrison's Final Crisis...which ended with Batman shooting Darkseid and Darkseid zapping Bats into the past with his Omega Beams....Stoopid....

      Batman....There is no other choice.
I'm sure Batman has already prepared for the encounter,it's what he does!!!

        Hmmmm....

Wasn't Spidey cosmic-powered once? Are we counting that?

However...I'd like to sort of realistically and logically (I know, hard to do with fictional superheroes) compare different characters strengths and limitations to one another...and Batman (without the aid of a cheating option, kryptonite) vs Superman is just not realistic (again, trying to use logic within the boundaries of comics).

Just because Superman is my favorite superhero...it doesn't mean he beats everyone in my book.

I can't picture Superman beating the Silver Surfer for instance. Superman is limited...he relies on both earth's gravity and our yellow sun for his powers. The Silver Surfer has the POWER COSMIC...his powers are limitless...he can blast anyone anywhere in the universe...he can easily travel beyond the stars...while Superman would have to construct a ship to travel outside our Solar System.

Superman is also susceptible to magic...that's why fighting Captain Marvel is so difficult for him...fighting a dude as strong as him is bad enough...but then magic comes into the equation...and Supes is at a disadvantage.

          Batman should be NO different.
Using strategy and his intellegence to counter Superman's powers is not cheating. Its smart on Batsy's part to bring Superman down to his human level. Just like painting himself yellow to take out Hal Jordan makes total sense for him, too.

Well said. Why is using a kryptonite ring cheating? It's just being smart

Bats vs Sups hardly counts. Sups has a weakness wherein if I had kryptonite I could beat Sups. Spidey has no such limit and actually has super human strenght, Batman does not. Both are highly inteligent, but the edge goes to The Amazing Spider-Man.
Break down:Smarts=tie, Speed=Spidey, Agility=Spidey, Strenght=Spidey. Add in spider sense tingling every time batman tried something and the win goes to SPIDERMAN!!!!!

Batman is a brilliant tactician. Spider-Man gets upset when his girlfriend looks at him funny.

                  WIN: Batman.

Maybe Superman's label as the a big Boy Scout is wrong, its Batman that is always prepared.

And that's when he's not concerned and distracted over Aunt May's umpteenth heart attack...

Or if J. Jonah Jameson is going to pay him for the pics so he can buy a motorscooter to impress Gwen Stacy....
