I hope they restore his comic book outfit and discard that horrid Superman Returns "thing".

I wanted the guy from True Blood...but hey...at least is not Tom Welling and his suckfest crew from Suckville...so I guess I can sort of live with it...for now.
But I agree with Sandy...we needed a man's man for Supes...not another pretty metrosexual boy band Supes....but what can you do.sigpicComment

I took a second look at that actor...and I'm just a bit content he's not a Chris Reeve clone like Brandon Routh was...he does resemble the comic book Supes...he's just a tad young-looking and pretty...but like I said before...at least it's NOT Tom "full girlie lips" Welling...and for that...I'm grateful...lol.sigpicComment

I totally agree with you guys though. To play Superman you should look heroic.
And the Suckville comment made me chuckle. I try not to hate on Smallville but I really am not a fan either.Comment

In MY opinion, the actual age doesn't matter as much as how manly the guy looks. When I was 27 or 28, I looked 35. I looked like a MAN. REEVE may have been 25 or whatever, but LOOKED like a MAN. Cavill looks like a little boy. Yeah, all the little girls will swoon, but he definitely lacks that manly man look that personifies and embodies these heroes.
I'm not saying he wont give a great performance. I'm not saying the movie won't be good. I'm just saying he looks like superboy, not the man of steel.
THIS is Superman;

Granted, O'Hearn is no great thespian, neither was Bartram at the time, BUT the point I was trying to make with those films, what I was essentially trying to say to them was; "Hey, guys... Check out how frikken cool a really big guy, who fills out these suits can look!"
That's all.

Part of the reason he looks so young is that we're all old. Many of us are old enough to be that guy's father.
I've always had a vision in my head of Superman being older than me, because that's how you think of him when you're a kid. Problem is that time passes for us and it doesn't for him. We can't really get a 55 year old guy to be Superman.Comment

Even though you hate my Hero Tom...I still love ya Hector. But I'm still happy...because Henry Cavill was my 2nd choice to Tom. It's a WIN, WIN situation to me.

You guys should check out Tudors. He plays King Henry's closes friend and a General in his army. I'm used to seeing him in medieval clothing but he looks really "man's man" on that show when he's jousting and the like. You know, when he's not wearing frilly 16'th Century clothing.

HOLY SMOKES...I LOVE THAT DUDE!!!
I take it back then...that dude carries himself very well...he's indeed a manly dude...great presence...and the dude is actually pretty big...wow...what a shocker...I had NO idea it was him...lol.
Glad I made you chuckle by saying Suckville...

Very few. But if you're WB and have squillions of dollars, you ought to be able to find ONE, wouldn't you think?

If the original Superman movie had been cast solely based on physicality, Chris Reeve wouldn't have got the part. You need to find a talented actor who can carry a motion picture for 90 minutes and who can draw you into the story and make you believe a man can fly... then you take that actor and work him out for however many months until he looks like Gerard Butler from the 300. (Ooh, same director, even!)
Look at Gerard Butler's photo on his IMDB listing:
Gerard Butler - IMDb
He certainly doesn't look like the Spartan King Leonidas there. But he did in the film, and that's where it counts.Comment
