re-booting Superman AGAIN is completely useless if you don't use the built in cast of Smallville. You have a built in following already and you can take it from the smallscreen to the big screen and A LOT of people would be completely satisfied and happy with the choices of who will play what character. It would be the easiest series finale in history of TV...Have Welling don the suit in the final scene and then have the disclaimer..."Watch for the further adventures of Superman coming Christmas of 2012..." I just don't get the fascination of WB basically destroying the character yet again with what may be a very lame re-boot. It just boggles the mind sometimes how NO ONE at DC or Marvel can see something that's RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM. It's no wonder they are losing their audiences."When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
The beauty that surrounds them
Isn't it a pity".

I'll wait and see.
I see no point in gushing or complaining until I see more. I want to see him in the costume. I want to see Lois Lane. I want to see the movie.
Then I'll make my judgment.
I saw Superman Returns and I often rewatch it on DVD. I just skip through and watch the Superfeats. The movie is called SUPERMAN not CLARK KENT or LAME LOIS LANE or CYCLOPS. I watch for Superman. So even in that, I found some good.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I completely disagree with Berto. I'm a big Superman fan and I couldn't care less about Smallville. Frankly, Smallville's built-in audience is tiny and should not be a factor in any reboot.
Smallville the show is completely different than what the movies should be and I'd prefer it remain separate from the movie mythos.Comment

He does look the part.
I've heard the name before in relation to Superman? ....it mentiones he auditioned for Batman, but I am sure I saw him linked to Supes somewhere before? Maybe it was a fan wish list for potential supermen actors or something?"Crayons taste like purple!"Comment

My suggestion comes from the fact that I am not a huge superman fan...but I am a fan of the TV series Smallville. Let's face it though...no matter how they try to re-boot this...it will never compare to the Reeves TV series or the Reeve Movies."When not too many people can see we're all the same

When MCG was involved with Superman Returns, Cavil was one of his prospects for the role.
He must have something that says Superman to someone. I'd rather see a bigger more muscular Man of Steel, but hopefully they'll get the script right with a lot of action and adventure.
But who knows.Comment

Probably because it's one of the more popular shows on the last place broadcast network.
Smallville's a show that's never ranked above #113 in the yearly Nielson averages... and that was eight years ago. I wouldn't deny it has a fanbase, but you're talking 2.4 million people on average watching the show during the ninth season, and ratings down more than 20% between the eighth and ninth seasons. The audience has eroded at a steady clip since the second season.
That suggests to me that interest in that show from the general public has long passed, and people that aren't watching something for free aren't going to suddenly be willing to pay for it in the theater.
I'd agree they'll have a hard time topping the first two Reeve movies, but Smallville would fail at that, too. Not because Smallville's necessarily bad, but Warner is obviously looking for something new and different to jump-start a franchise, and using a ten year old concept whose best days were eight years ago won't do that.Last edited by MegoSteve; Jan 30, '11, 3:37 PM.Comment

Just tell me a GOOD Superman story....that's all I ask (Other than having Luthor be the MAIN villain this time around....let's have him behind the scenes and set up a sequel)Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment

Yep...Good story will heal all wounds I think.
Personally, I want to see supes fight with some giant robots, and maybe those Bulleteer dudes from the classic cartoon.... Anybody but Lex this time out."Crayons taste like purple!"Comment

This guy looks the part. I'm not familiar with any of his work but I'll give him a chance.
I could do without the origin story. I think we're all familiar with how he came to Earth from Kyrpton etc.Comment
