I think madmarva's analysis is right now the money in regards to the GL mythos.

I always liked Kyle in JLA, having a young lantern with the older crew kind of worked for me. Especially since Wally, someone his age, treated him like many fans did at the time.Places to find PlaidStallions online: https://linktr.ee/Plaidstallions

Since he left the book though the title has floundered and has been rebooted with a new team every other week.
Yeah Grant's hands were tied somewhat by DC continuity at the time (like Electric Supes) but at least he still had all of the key players.
When they took away the "Trinity" from the JLA because of continuity issues within the heroes own titles that was a BIG mistake.Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment

I was kind of disappointed with Mark Waid and Bryan Hitch's run JLA following Morrison and Porter. On paper it looked great, but they didn't seem to be on the same page creatively. Hitch was still doing the Wide-screen kick-splode stuff while Waid was exploring smaller personal moments. Certain stuff like the Queen of Fables and exploring Eel O'Brien vs Plastic Man worked, but others didn't quite gel.Comment

I always look at Kyle as a good thing that came out of a bad situation. Its ironic that the DC of 16(!) years ago decided that the GL Corps was dead-weight, and that GL would be a better character if he was unique. Nowadays, there are a freakin' rainbow of ring-bearers, and folks are eatin' it up left and right.
Bottom line, Emerald Twilight and it's fallout were horrible, horrible ideas that should have never been executed. Hal could have been taken out of the book without going there. Kyle could have been an experimental Lantern with no connection to the Corps or something.
I liked Kyle's handling in JLA too. Morrison's JLA run was actually worth the hype he continues to get.

I wonder if the significance of Jumping the Shark is lost on younger people since Happy days isn't in reruns constantly anymoreComment
