Who's Batman's Best and lamest villain?

Folks, this is opinion, so there are no wrong answers. If someone believes Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum are Batman's best villains viva la deference (sic?).

While I know the Joker will likely be most everyone's pick, honestly, I like Ras al Ghul a lot better.

I could go a long time without reading another Joker story because so much has already been done with the character.

But I love Ras because of the international feel he gives to Batman. And while he is a megalomaniac narcissist, his schemes are on such a grand scale that he brings out the best in Batman.

He's kind of what Bruce might become if he did not have compassion and a protective nature.

While vengeance is certainly part of Batman's makeup, I think his impetus is more about helping safeguard Gotham and mankind from crime than just getting revenge.

I also don't see him as disturbed or crazy as some writers have chosen to depict him. He's certainly obsessed and the most determined individual on the planet but not crazy.

To me Ras is what Batman or Bruce Wayne might become if he truly was crazy.

As for lamest villain, of the popular big guns, it's the Penguin. His current portrayal as mob type is the best use of the character. But the way he was portrayed through most of his span as a character was really weak.

Best: Joker. He is the perfect foil for Batman. The evil man embodying something that is supposed to make us happy, a clown, where is Batman is a good man embodied by a frightening bat. It's just too good to go any other way. I love Ra's, Two-Face, Riddler and the like, but Joker is the greatest comic villain period. Not just Batman. And don't say Dr. Doom. Puh-leese.

Worst...hmmm...I don't think there are any bad Batman villains, they just need the right touch. Look at how BTAS fleshed out previous lamoids like Mad Hatter, and even Mr. Freeze. Batman: Brave and the Bold even made Kite-Man and Crazy Quilt seem interesting.

I'd have to go w/ the Fab 4 for the best (Joker, Riddler, Catwoman and Penguin), and based on the series, I always thought the Puzzler was a cheap imitation of Joker and Riddler.

The Joker is probably Batman's best villain, but I really think he's way overused. And not just in Batman, but everywhere. Catwoman is close, but inconsistant (is she bad or good or both or what?).

Worst Batman villain for me was Black Spider or Blockbuster.

I always liked he gimmick villains like Calendar Man or Kite-Man. And the Spook, but they don't really use him too much- in fact I think they killed him off, didn't they?

And the Shark, Fox, & Vulture are known as the Terrible Trio.

                I like Killer Moth, too.

Heck, I like most villains. what's great is when a writer gets a hold of a villain and really puts a good spin on him and improves him.

Like Englehart and later Ostrander did with Deadshot.

                        Best: The Joker (hands down)

Worst: Toss-up Nora Clavicle (from 1960's Batman TV series) and "Baby Doll" (from Batman: The Animated Series). For those who do not know:

BABY DOLL: A former child TV star named Mary Dahl had become bitter and insane after falling into obscurity and realizing that she had a disorder that prevented her body from growing to adulthood, thus biologically cursed with literal eternal youth.

She kidnaped her TV family, who all led more successful lives and careers than her, and held them prisoner on an abandoned sound stage while Batman and Robin worked to rescue them.

Her tag line (as the mischievous child character she played on Television): "I didn't mean it!"

                        Ughh!!!!

That's because a Riddler script was converted to the Puzzler when Frank Gorshin was unwilling to return in season 2 (also why John Astin was tapped for the role that year)

There are a lot of great bad ones from the 50's and 60's. Polkadot Man, the Eraser, Rainbow Beast, Cavalier, The Outsider, Zebraman, Calander Man
