If you're reffereing to the then "Editor in Chief" Joe Quesada...then we agree on something...I HATE Quesada! He's the Idiot the gave Morrison(with Quitely)free reign on the X-Men, for the worst X-Men run EVER! It has the distinction of being the ONLY time I've ever cancelled the X-Men in 30something years of buying the Book.

Quesedilla wasn't editor then, he was artist on X-Factor at the time. It was probably Bob Harras that sided with the "artist" hack Jim Lee. Then Lee went all prima donna and left Marvel to go play with his Image goons. And the world of comics is oh so much better for having Image form.

It was in fact Bob Harras that was running the X-Men kingdom back then during the Jim Lee years.

I believe Defalco was still EIC during the Clone Saga wasn't he? Or was this during the short-lived 5 Editorial Kingdoms which culminated in Bob Harras taking the Big Chair.

I think you forget the reason these Artist & Writers formed Image. Marvel was making Money off these Guys BIG Time...and not sharing in the rewards. They had no ownership over new Characters they created. Let's not forget Marvel has a history of shafting their own People(ask Stan Lee).

Apparrently DC thinks Image is worth something...or they wouldn't have bough the Company.

DC didn't buy Image....Image still exists today. DC bought Jim Lee's company Wildstorm, which was one of the many studios that made up Image. Basically, Jim Lee "sold out" his dream to the fat cats who were holding him back in the first place.

Yeah this seems liker poor planning on Marvel's part....almost like something DC would do lately. The problem is Millar and McNiven have been too slow on Wolverine and Marvel was in a hurry to end it so they could convert the title to Dark Wolverine with #75 starring Wolverine's son Daken. You'll probably be better off cancelling your subscription now anyway...Typical bait and switch tactics, people subscribe to Wolverine and now you give them something else.

I dunno if I'd agree; considering when he was working for Image HE left his own book fairly early on! They ALL did! Kinda made me think the problem wasn't being held back artisticly, it was not getting a cut of the cash. Period.

I think the dream WAS the money, and if DC antes up, so much the better.

DC bought Wildstorm. And since the early 80's the creators for hire do get a cut off of characters they are credited to have created when they are used in other stuff like movies and toys. Byrne even gets a cut every time Kitty Pryde is used elsewhere. Image was formed as a pure egostroke nothing more. If they wanted to do creator ownded stuff there were plenty of other publishers out there.
