I know I'm in the Minority here, but I enjoyed the Clone Saga right up until the point where the said...the Clone is the real Peter Parker...then I was PI$$ED OFF!

But...then they fixed it. And it turn out not to be true.

I stopped reading Marvel comics ages ago, the clone saga was probably one of the last stories that I read.

The Clone thing is a What if? sort of story, giving DeFalco a chance to tell the story the way he intended it without the editorial monkeying that went on with it. Sorta like Claremont's XMen book telling the story he would have done had he not been run off the book by that dickhead Jim Lee and the editor that took the artist's side instead of the writer that had been on the book for years.

It's only a six issiue mini and it's won't be in continuity. No big deal here, no one, evenSpidey die hards (which inlcude me) has to buy it to keep up. The only thing they should have done to make it more palatble was make it an actual "What If?" mini-series. Also note the last line of the article. That could be the real driving force behind this.

I am really curious about DeFalco's "Golden Handcuffs" with Marvel. He is really the only example that I can think of as a "company man" in creative/editorial that has really paid off for him in the long run. Regimes come and go, owners come and go, and it seems DeFalco ALWAYS has some kind of steady work at Marvel no matter what going on well over three decades. Spidergirl kept chugging along despite low sales, he's been given gigs on mass market books based on Marvel Properties, now another shot at the clone saga.

Who else besides Stan ever had this (and even he kind of got pushed off the ledge a few years ago)? Roy Thomas, Marv Wolfman, Jim Shooter, Bob Harris, Bill Jemas all moved on. Even Archie Goodwin eventually went to DC. When Joe Q eventually steps down at Marvel, I'm certain he wouldn't limit himself with Marvel properties given his wide and varied career prior. He's always expressed a bit of regret about not being able to fully exploit his creator owned properties like Painkiller Jane or Ash or even just getting back to the drawing board in general.

I think the trick is to read ACTUAL new comics.... The Big Two and a Half aren't really new. There's a lot of good stuff out there.

Agreed. In MY world, Kirby, Romita and Ditko have NEVER been eclipsed ... and the ONLY "Lee" I recognize is Stan!
