More EMCE Star Trek Pikes/Salt Vampires?

So, Doc said recently when asked if there would be more EMCE figures issued that it would just be more Pikes and Salt Vampires. Was he serious about that? And if so, why those? Weren't the last figures Mirror Kirk and Spock?

Just wondering if there's been any updates on this subject, or if Doc was joking (along with the "even bigger head for Pike" comment)...

I must admit, having now collected the entire run besides Pike, I would LOVE to see a few more in this line. However, it does seem the painted heads weren't extremely popular, so maybe that killed it off?

I can say I really didn't like the head on Mirror Kirk, and I believe that was one of the painted ones? The sculpt just seemed...off compared to the regular Kirk. His face was too thin and smirky. I ended up putting the Mirror Kirk uniform on my Khan figure instead.

I didn't have any problem with the sculpt on that head, or the Spock one...but the painted part bugged me. I probably wouldn't have given it a second thought if it had been meant to be a non-Mego-like product. But it just looked too much unlike the rest of the Mego crew faces that way. I didn't have any problem with the Salt Vampire's painted face, because it's a monster and also a totally new character.

Me three! Although if I had to do without Vina that would be okay as long as we got Nurse Chapel. And maybe Janice Rand.

I used a vintage mego Richie Cunningham head for my Mr Riley it works pretty well but I think Lt Leslie or Mr Kyle are the most worthy as they appear in multiple episodes

As wonderful as the Emce Treks are, it saddens me that we could not have had another wave or two to add some classic crew & notable supporting cast/aliens. And several stellar James Brady sculpts coulnd have been used...

It's one of me favorite reMego lines; as with POTA, it seems that it's lack of DST support/"licensing issues," rather than buyer disinterest.

Universal Monsters seems slated for the same fate.

I really felt like the EMCE Trek figures were just hitting their stride when the line fizzled. Could it have been due to the change in manufacturing? People don't seem to like the painted heads and heavier bodies that came out after the first manufacturer's run ended with Sulu & Gorn, although it worked really well on non-human things like the Salt Vampire (which looked fantastic!).

I guess you could say we're lucky to have gotten the ones we did, but it's such a shame that we didn't have the rest of the classic aliens in updated form, plus a few more crewmembers (Rand, Chapel, etc.) and then maybe some other notables like Trelane or Harry Mudd.

Ah, well...curse you, fickle market!

I really would have liked more TNG figures--Data and Worf, at least. They would have been great sellers, I think. Maybe a Romulan and a Cardassian to go with the Borg. Oh, well. Maybe someone else will pick up the license for 8" Trek figures someday? It seems that just about everything is getting the 8" treatment right now.

At least Diamond Select is looking at the line again. It sounds like they want to do something, but they don't know what. Unfortunately, they are missing out right now on all of the excitement generated by FTC... sort of. They are doing the Marvel Sets, so that is not entirely true.

I have gone back to pick these up and got them all for excellent-to-decent prices, except McCoy, The Gorn and the Romulan, all still needed. I have no room for the playset, unfortunately. I know some people would hate to see another run of these repros , and DST has not ruled that out, but I bet a lot of people like me would welcome it, along with new ones. They could make Kirk with his green shirt, as to not make more of what seems to be common standard yellow shirt Kirks. And any revival of a star Trek line will need a Kirk and probably Spock. I'd love to see Next Generation expanded and fleshed out too.
