I prefer the ( factory ) reproductions of all my favorite Mego lines but by no means does this make me a casual collector. I am a very picky collector when it comes to condition and it's a lot easier to get perfect flawless factory new reproductions MOC or MIB than expensive originals.

Given that I finally completed my full set of WGSH last year, I'm in the camp of new versions of classics, and characters we never saw.

Totally understand though why the price point on repros is attractive to casual collectors and a great way to suck more folks into the hobby by making their childhood toys accessible again (Famous Covers was my gateway in). Nothing like having minty versions of beloved childhood toys in your hands again.

it looks like we're getting the best of all worlds though since FTC is likely going to squeeze ever last drop out of this license. I suspect multiple Batman once they are done their cycle of repros for example. I'm sure many of us will want one closer to the Neal Adams/Jim Aparo era.

To me without new versions and all together new characters, there is no real impetus behind the lines. I'm not against redoing the old figures, but what excites me is the possibility of something new.

it would be really cool to see a New X-Men line or even the Defenders. Dr. Doom and Sub Matriner or even an 18" Galactus.

But a Marvel line has to have Spidey, Cap, Hulk, Ironman and Thor and the FF. A mixture of old a new would be more ideal to me.

This times a million. If you want to re-do certain figures that you think Mego missed in their version (Hulk, Mr. Mxy, Penguin, etc) that's fine but do the exact replica of the original version first. Yes I am a purist about this, I want my childhood back first, then you can work on fixing sins of the past

I wonder if it's even possible for a company to hold both Marvel and DC licenses in the action figure category?

I can't think of an instance since Mego where this has happened. Toy Biz HAD the DC license, but when Kenner (which got bought by Hasbro eventually?) grabbed it, they got the Marvel license. then they played some musical chairs when Marvel jumped to Hasbro/Kenner and DC jumped to Mattel. Could it be likely that there might be a clause in contracts stating that you can't have the license to one if you have the other?

Although it might be the wild west right now... since there doesn't seem to be that kind of exclusivity in licensing DC or Marvel characters for figures. NECA, Hot Toys, Mattel and FTC all making versions of Batman '66 for instance. Or Captain Action having both marvel and DC (although are they continuing with Marvel characters now that they are starting on DC, or are they done with Marvel with the release of Iron Man and Wolverine?).

I'd like an 8" or taller version.
I've always wanted to try making a custom mod of the Hulk's legs which extend them out by about a half an inch to see if that helps. Never had the time though.

Whoever gets the Marvel 8 inch license I hope they give us exact replicas of all the original Mego Marvel characters first then add new characters later. I'm sure Hasbro would have no interest in this. DST has already left us way short on characters from POTA, ST, STTNG and Universal Monsters so I doubt they would complete the original Marvel Megos either. My hope is that EMCE alone or FTC get it.

Doc has never flat out said NO!

Somebody including Doc is after the Mego Marvel license. You know FTC did and is still trying to! I would like to see Doc get it after the way Mattel handled DC Retro Action.
    Spot on!
