Good idea, but I don't think it'd work. Especially considering some actors only had one or two memorable characters.

Are Belushi and Farley gonna get the fat body, or padding like Killinger?
Looking for Green Arrow accessories, Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver, and Japanese Popy Megos (Battle Cossack and France, Battle of the Planets, Kamen Rider, Ultraman) and World Heroes figures

Wonder if the Blues Brothers fall under this.

It would be cool if the character figures could include a voice chip with their catchphrases and Key lines or songs. Among the other characters mentioned here's a few I'd like to see. Many of these might not be included in the license:

        Two Wild and Crazy Guys

        Mr. Robinson

        Velvet Jones

Joe Piscopo as Frank and Eddie as Stevie

        Wayne and Garth

Tonto, Frankenstein and Tarzan with a voice chip of the singing Christmas Carols.

        Fernando - You look Marvelous

Belushi as Hulk, Garrett Morris as Antman, Dan Ackroyd as Flash and Bill Murray as Superman

Belushi as Kirk and Chevy as Spock

With all these new lines coming out, and the 8" format really having a niche clientele, theres simply too much to collect and a lot of the lines I feel will be cancelled without having a chance to expand. I would probably collect these, if there wasnt so much out there in 8", I certainly cant keep up.

I'm just guessing at the parameters of the license, but I'll bet it's going to be only cast members and only characters that SNL owns. So, again I'm completely guessing, Belushi's Samurai would be ok, Eddie Murphy as James Brown would not.

My wishlist would be Coneheads, Wayne's World, Nat X, and the Wild and Crazy guys. And Bill Murray as ANYBODY!
Expectation is the death of discovery.

I wouldn't mind them doing more than 70s SNL.

I get that there is a group of fans who wish to keep MEGO stuck in its roots, but if we don't include stuff like The Ladies Man, or The Spartan Cheerleaders there will be little interest.

Roseanne Roseannadanna was popular 30 years ago, but most people outside of SNL fans wouldn't know her.

But if you give us MacGruber, I think he would have wider appeal, despite his not so great movie.

                Yep, my thoughts exactly.
Though I do welcome all these new lines (and am glad that some collectors are truly happy about them), it is becoming a huge supply and a relatively small demand.
I love watching SNL, don't get me wrong, but I wonder about its true potential as an action figure line.
When I look at what's on offer now, I can't help but think of the Roman Empire. They had a "great thing going" until they overexpanded and collapsed. And less succesful lines will drag the succesful ones along with them.

Back in the 70s, when Mego decided to do Love Boat, I would have felt the same way about it...

First thing I thought of when I read the title of this thread was the Coneheads. Wayne's World was next. I'd love to see the Wild n Crazy Guys! Other characters I can see then doing would be John Lovitz's Devil, Fernando, Ambiuously Gay Duo, the Ladies' Man, the Continental, Mango, Mr Peepers, Church Lady, the Cheri Oteri/Will Farrell cheer leaders, the Blues Brothers, Mr. Robinson, Nat X, Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer. I'd bet the more distinctive the character (i.e., the more it;s costume and makeup the less it needs to look like the actor, like the COneheads aor Unfrozen Cavemen Lawyer) the more likely it is to get done. Of course, popular's popular, though . . .

We're going to need to keep the action figure part of this line very limited. We agree that there are so many great characters that we want as action figures too, but (unfortunately) reality kicks in and we must focus on sales. That means picking the characters that would sell the most today - not necessarily from 30 years ago. There is much more to this deal than action figures, although I realize 8-inch Mego is what we are here for.

Considering the Venture Bros.. I'd think the Ambiguously Gay Duo would be an almost obvious choice for a tin tote set. Seeing that there are no actor likeness rights to contend with it I would think these would be easy enough. Who would buy them on the other hand is the million dollar question.

I dunno, seriously, I hate to say this but I can't see the line doing well.

I remember seeing SNL figures collecting dust in Suncoast video stores years ago.

Maybe the Blues Brothers would do well but I can't see many people wanting/buying any others.
