That's because they weren't Mego-like. I would skip The Motion Picture and go straight to Wrath of Khan red uniforms. When people see them next to classic Mego Trek figures they should go coo-coo for coa-coa puffs over them. Maybe change he interior art on the Diamond Select Retro Bridge to Wrath of Khan bridge and you have something there.

We could even put a repro flesh suit under Ilia.
If a Mego figure of God did not exist, it would be necessary for EMCE to invent him.

True. Needs to be Mego Like. And skip The Motion Picture

Scotty in an Engineering suit rather than the red jacket would be nice.

Kirk or McCoy in the away team parka would also be cool.

        Checov in a Space suit?

Yes, I think unproduced movie costumes, (in addition to the red uniforms), on favorite characters that the other companies didn't try would be a good idea: Kirk wearing vest, (STII and/or Generations), Spock in his black Vulcan robes, McCoy in white medical shirt, Bridge Characters in casual attire ala Star Trek III. Add supporting characters like Kirstie Alley's and Robin Curtis's Saavik, Merrit Butrick as David Marcus, Sarek & movie style Klingons to the mix and you could woo the Trek fans back to Mego Format. If the movie style head-sculpts are really good I think they will collect these.

I think Doc might have mentioned previously that a line encompassing whichever licenses in the star trek universe Diamond held was pitched.

I think this would be a great way to test the waters with the most popular characters from the movies, next generation, ds9, voyager, enterprise.

There is so much to cherry pick if that were the case... Thus you could do Kirk and Kahn in movie gear and not necessarily have to worry initially about how the rest of the bridge crew sells. Ditto worf, sisko, odo, et al. If the line does prove popular enough, then you go deeper into the character selections.

Although I can see the appeal of how the movie uniforms could be cost effective to produce with the entire brdge crew since they are more or less almost the same except for the rank markings aren't they? Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong since trek ain't really my big thang.

Yesssssirrr! You are correct! Tho I think in Trek II the lady-finger cookie-like collars are pastel colored for rank as well. The exception being Kirk and Spock have white instead of the gold/mustard color.

The collar colors noted division, not rank. White was command, green medical, can't remember what the blue or tan were

Blue used to be science. Maybe now blue includes science/support/engineering, (engineering can't be red if the whole uniform top is red)? Sulu & Scotty are closer to getting command status than Uhura & Chekov; just below Spock as Capt. so their colors could apply to pre-command status? Scotty was promoted to Capt. in Trek III and Sulu to Capt. in Trek VI. Also the shoulder strap also matches the collar in color.
