I think the idea is that Mattel wants to try one more test before giving us new figures. First it's " Buy Kyle if you want more Retro Action. " Well Kyle is now sold out. Now it's " Buy more of the same thing if you want more Retro Action. " Frustrating to be sure but maybe if we buy all these up Mattel with finally give us some different characters. The fact that they even have the Retro Action figures on display at NYCC to me is a ray of hope.

As Churchill said about Russia in 1939:

"I cannot forecast to you the action of Russia. It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma; but perhaps there is a key. That key is Russian national interest."

I think some of that can be applied to Mattel. We see this from our view point
and don't understand their reasoning. The people in the company have a
different vantage point on the company as a whole, not just one line.

One industry insider told me that Mattel makes 4 billion on Barbie and
Hot Wheels - he doesn't understand why they bother with other lines since
anything made from it is the equivalent of a rounding error on 4 billion.Comment

You've fallen victim to one of the classic blunders. The first is, never get involved in a land war in Asia. The second is, never try to figure out the reasoning behind Mattel's behavior.I think the idea is that Mattel wants to try one more test before giving us new figures. First it's " Buy Kyle if you want more Retro Action. " Well Kyle is now sold out. Now it's " Buy more of the same thing if you want more Retro Action. And don't cross a Sicilian when death is on the line, of course. Comment

Like any company- they are all about trying to make mo money, mo money mo money!!

I would LOVE to see this line continue - I might even buy the ones I don't want or need- if it will help cause additional releases.

I'd be willing to belly-crawl naked over broken glass and rusty nails for a full line-up of Marvel Super Heroes!Comment

Retro Action would be a rounding error, but if they never put Barbie in stores, how would they make all the loot? My Updated Want List: My Updated Want List:
 Comic book original art
1970s Hulk or Spider-man metal garbage can
 Custom Mego Nexus, Grendel

Have lots of comics and Marvel Legends figures for trades. Thanks!Comment

I really think the trick to getting DC, Marvel or any other popular line in retro action style is to do exactly what EMCE and BifBangPow is doing right now. Get other licenses and make the figure style popular, show there is a market and money to be made, then snagging these big name brands will be easier. Back in the day, Mego was were it was at. The Ghostbusters, Universal Monsters, Six Million Dollar Man, Battlestar Galactica, Twilight Zone, etc figures will repopularize the style of figure and generate that market. The more figures in that style on shelves in toy stores the better the chances we will see other similar lines or people like DC or Marvel reconsidering the validity.Comment

So what can we do in order to get the final figures? Who can we reach out to in order to get answers about our questions? Someone has to know how we can get new and or the remaining figures and get Matty back on board with their original vision?! Speak up so we can and will make a difference! If they are reverting back to Matty someone has to have some information that would be more helpful to the consume who wants this line to continue!Comment

The way Mattel guards it's plans like missle launch codes, the only one with the nuclear football is Doc, and he's not talking. He can't. There may be alternative plans in the works through back channels of communication, but that's not for us to know. I would certainly like the line to continue as most of us do, but I've come to terms with reality that Mattel has moved on.

There is nothing any of could write, do or say to change anyone's minds about RA.I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

And we already tried with that petition which got like 500 signatures, and Mattel gave us the "loud but not numerous" line that everyone loves so much to hear. It's just in their hands right now.

I have every Mattel Retro Action figure (Ghostbusters & DC). I'm still holding out hope for a continuation of the line that will also feature retro boxes in addition to or in place of the bubble/card packaging we've seen. There are so many cool characters left to be made. It would at least be nice to finish the JLA/Super Friends, LoD, etc.Comment

Meh. Honestly the passionate disinterest has burned me as a customer. (think Netflix)

Don't get me wrong, I hope the line restarts because everyone here will be super jazzed about it... But i could take it or leave it. If there's a cool product out, and it's in front of me, I'd probably buy it. If there's a super cool product (Batgirl? Hawkman? Finhead Despero?) I'd even go out of my way. but I wouldn't lose tears over not picking it up and I'm not that hot for the corporation.

Love EMCE, Love the work everyone put in - but Mattel? Sorry. You don;t smack this little lady around and then honk your horn outside the shelter expecting a tearful reunion.

Wait... what did I just say? Must be the Kirin talking.Comment
