Yeah, the Signature line was disappointing in terms of execution. Of course, there was plenty of the same expressed here about RA, so who can guess?

Absolutely! The price point, although IMO reasonable, hurt--but not nearly as much as not being able to find figures at retail.

Well barbie still sells billions a year and has an aisle in every Walmart, Target and TRU not to mention sold almost every where, even some grocery stores and a big collector market too. I guess if you call that dumping... but does any toy even come close.... I don't think so.. Barbie made Mattel the biggest toy company in the world.

Yeah, Mattel sells three Barbies a second every day. I imagine lots of toy companies would love to have a brand that sells that "poorly."
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Wow as the son of a Hardcore Barbie collector who continued his mothers collection for his daughter to this day I didn't know that Barbie sold poorly.....boy that Barbie section in the NYC times square TOYS R US sure is small it only took one part of the back store......and she must be slipping what she sells what every 3 seconds instead of every second.......

and the Barbie site wow never saw a site devoted to a poor selling doll before.........

I hope lots of people at SDCC convey their displeasure directly to the Mattel top staff that are present. SDCC is coming up! Make sure to bring your protest signs!

If every last person who bought a RADCSH figure wrote a letter to Mattel, it wouldn't be enough, because even with all the people who bought the figures, Mattel is still canceling the line because all those people weren't enough to justify continuing the line. But you think that if all those people send letters, Mattel will throw their money down the drain, after those peoples' hard-earned cash wasn't enough? The sales just didn't justify the production cost. The end. Unless you can guarantee Mattel the bottom line that if they produce more they will sell more, forget about it. Right now, the "Release the Final Wave" thread on Mattycollector.com has 26 posts not even from 26 people. The production numbers are in the thousands. Even 200 posters wouldn't make a difference.

JLU was so much more popular than this line, with an even larger fan base, and Mattel cancelled that line, too. It's not about letters, it's about voting with your purchase - just like Mattel has always said. Not enough people voted apparently.
Exactly GoldBlade6, I couldn't agree more and I love this post, the best post in this thread so far. Totally logical and straight to the point using facts. So I steadfastly agree with you, as far as I'm concerned, NOTHING sends a better message to Mattel to continue the line than reaching in your pocket and pulling out a $20 to buy a figure. As the saying goes, money talks and bullstuff walks. By that reckoning, most of us have already bought far more than one figure and the line is still cancelled. We put our money where our mouths were, or in this case, where our pens would be. Money is what they listen to, not letters, so if you've already bought one or more of these figures, your "letter" has already been sent and it apparently still wasn't enough. The problem is all of us just weren't enough. They were far too expensive and far too hard to find. Think about it, many of us went out specifically hunting these, knowing they exist, and still couldn't find them. How then is a little kid supposed to stumble upon and discover them by chance in TRU? So I just can't get my head around why some are so surprised by this news. This line has been plagued with flaws since they were released, first body issues, then emblem issues, then availability issues, then sticky-stuff-in-the-bubbles issues, then terrible character selection issues...the list goes on and on and all of these issues have been discussed here at the Museum ad nauseum. Yet people are surprised. I don't get it. Of course it's debatable whether any of the aforementioned issues contributed to the line's demise, it's all a matter of speculation of course. No matter, I'm very, very disappointed to be sure, but not at all surprised the line is ending. It's happened the exact same way in other toy lines countless times. Very rarely do Super Hero lines go the distance and last for several years. JLU and DCU are the only exceptions I can think of in recent history. Mattel should've gone into this line knowing their life span would be relatively short, barring a fluke, and they didn't. It's seen in their slow attempts to market these things, it's seen in their poor distribution of these things, and it's seen in their character selections. It's like they went into this thinking they had all the time in the world to fix problems, to advertise, to make staple characters, etc. There's a number of things that were handled poorly and I think Mattel is getting what it deserves in this case. In my opinion they mishandled the line by assuming lengthy longevity and now it's deemed a failure prematurely. Of course they could care less, it's us, the collectors who miss out.
So although very unrealistic, the only a way a letter campaign would be practical is if a bunch of people wrote letters telling Mattel that they intended to buy all the figures but haven't yet, whereby showing new interest in the figures. Then Mattel may see some $$$ signs. But having a myriad of people, who already spent hundreds of dollars supporting the line, write a letter is a fairly futile and unnecessary endeavor because you and your money/support have already been considered in their bottom line as soon as you paid at the Toys R' Us check-out counter. In a nutshell, if they didn't listen to your money, they're certainly not going to listen to your letters. If you bought one or more of these, you've already professed your loyalty to the line to Mattel...and it's still over sadly. This whole line cancellation just really stinks and depresses me. I mean I knew it wouldn't go on for years and years as some thought it might, but I was hoping for at least 8-12 more figures before the line's demise. The pen may be mightier than the sword, but in no way is it mightier than the wallet.

I hate to say "I told you so", but this is exactly why a letter campaign won't do ****, Mattel just doesn't give a damn about their customers. All they care about is money
