It may not be a great chance but at least it is a chance and sometimes thats all you need and if the letters and e-mails don't work well then they don't work but at the very least we will know that we tried and thats alot better then thinking later on Gee I waunder had we all wrote some letters if we would have got more waves. So why not join in and try to help keep this line alive. To somewhat quote Billy Joel "You may be right, We may be crazy, But it just may be a lunitic that Mattel is looking for"

Hey you have to give it a shot. Heck He-Man was dead and Matty breathed life back into the line with exclusives....so they have a history of doing something like that. Worth a shot....at least they have shown that they listen to some degree to collectors......

Paul even posted on the Mattel board that he hopes the remaining figures can be sold online. I'm sure he has a bit more pull than the rest of us and has contacts within Mattel, so hopefully we will get a few more.

What are these letters going to do? Mattel is going to be like, "Congratulations. We get it. You bought the figures, but the fact is (apparently) that not enough others bought them, and the final numbers don't lie."

Passionate, loud fans didn't save JLU which was more popular and longer running than this line. I understand the disappointment - I'm actually pretty ticked off that Mattel couldn't find a way to save this line or make it work. I see it more as a pathetic failure on their part that they couldn't make this a successful line than it is a lack of sales or interest from fans.

But you've got to know when to let it die. Mattel isn't going to change its collective mind.

If you don't try, you will never succeed. Its easy to say die. Its easy to say quit, give up, why try. America wasn't founded on these principles, and its not in me to "just give up". If you dont get your way you are gonna take your ball home with you. Fine. But I will never tell people to give up because the odds are against them. By your reasoning, all underdogs shoul give up, don't bother, your not favored to win, so dont bother showing up to the game. bull sh**t!!!!!!
Write your letters, post your posts, send your e-mails. Let your voice be heard. TRY TRY TRY. The people who dont try are the ones who tend to whine the most. Its easy to complain, It takes heart to stand up for what you believe in, whether the odds are against you or not!!!

This is not an attack on any nay sayers...this is to push the people on the fence into taking action.

Folks we need to try. Not to make the line last forever but to give the line enough life to last long enough. That is all. Everyone should log into the Matty forum and tell Mattel to keep it going. Here's the link....

It's not about trying or not. If every last person who bought a RADCSH figure wrote a letter to Mattel, it wouldn't be enough, because even with all the people who bought the figures, Mattel is still canceling the line because all those people weren't enough to justify continuing the line. But you think that if all those people send letters, Mattel will throw their money down the drain, after those peoples' hard-earned cash wasn't enough? The sales just didn't justify the production cost. The end. Unless you can guarantee Mattel the bottom line that if they produce more they will sell more, forget about it. Right now, the "Release the Final Wave" thread on Mattycollector.com has 26 posts not even from 26 people. The production numbers are in the thousands. Even 200 posters wouldn't make a difference.

JLU was so much more popular than this line, with an even larger fan base, and Mattel cancelled that line, too. It's not about letters, it's about voting with your purchase - just like Mattel has always said. Not enough people voted apparently.

If the figures were out there for people to buy instead of holed up in a warehouse more people could have voted as you say.

Price and availability killed JLU for me. When it got to be 20 bucks for a 3 pack at Target and the Matty stuff even higher I was done. Now my 50 or so figures sit in boxes.

I think that really says it all. Kids can't be turned onto a new toyline and be expected to keep up with it when they're not on the pegs to be bought, but anyhow.....

Do I think a letter writing campaign is really gonna change anything? Nope, probably not. But I still think it's a cool idea if people want to take the time to let the company know that they think this is a crummy decision. I don't think there's anything wrong with a letter writing campaign, even if it is "doomed to fail", it's still good to make your thoughts heard. It's up to the individual to decide if it's worth your time or not. It's no good for folks here to get angry at people who don't feel it's worth their time to write letters of protest. And by the same token, just because you happen to feel it's a waste of time, doesn't mean you should dissuade others from doing it, or put them down because they do it. Especially when a toy company later makes statements about how a line failed due to low numbers and public disinterest, for some people it's at least a personal satisfaction to say, "well hey, I bought the figures and I let the company know my feelings, so at least I tried."

Here is the response I received last night from Mattel:

The Retro-Action DC Super Heroes Figure Assortment is still being manufactured. It is a very popular product line and, in most cases, has sold out at the retail level. We expect new shipments to arrive at retail stores within the next few weeks. We recommend that you try contacting the following stores: Wal-Mart, Toys "R" Us, Target, K-Mart, Meijers, Fred Meyer, Sam's Club, Shopko, Kohl's, Sears and JC Penney. If you have been unable to locate this product at the above locations, you may wish to contact store managers regarding product availability.

You may also wish to try the following Internet sources: walmart.com; smarterkids.com.; toysrus.com; target.com and kmart.com.

As a manufacturer, Mattel sells directly to the public only through our direct sales divisions that do not include the entire product line. You may view products and shop online at: Shop.Mattel.com - Toys, dolls, action figures, games and vehicles. Delivering play, every day!, Barbie Collector, Toy Cars | Find Your Favorite Diecast Toy Car or Toy Truck | Hot Wheels and Matchbox.com - Official site
. Barbie Collector has a free catalog which you may request by calling (800) 491-7514. You can also contact shop.mattel.com by phone at 1-888-7-MATTEL.

We continuously strive to maintain the highest level of consumer satisfaction and your interest in our company is greatly appreciated.

I have a feeling that reply was copied and pasted and the name of the product was just inserted in there without regard for veracity or actual customer service.
